 Take the selector appropriate to the pipe diameter and fit it into the seat provided
(fig. 1, item 1) All selectors are marked with the corresponding pipe diameter.
 Make sure that the oil drain plug on the tank is closed
 Find the operating pressure for the pipe concerned on the table of "GUIDELINE
PRESSURES FOR DIN 2353 RINGS" located on the upper cover.
FOR FLARING PIPE TO 37° FOR SAE-JIC COUPLINGS:
 Take the BL block (fig. 2) and fit it into the seat provided (fig. 3).
 LIFT THE PIPE STOP RETAINER AND FIT THE FLARING PUNCH ON THE
PISTON ROD KEEPING IT CLEAN AND LIGHTLY GREASED (RECOMMENDED
TYPE OF GREASE KLUBER STABURAGS NBV30).
 LOCK THE PUNCH ONTO THE ROD USING THE SAFETY PIN PROVIDED.
 Find the pressure necessary for the pipe used in the "GUIDELINE PRESSURES FOR
FLARING PIPES TO 37°" located on the upper cover.

Before starting prefitting operations, read the following sections very carefully:

 PREPARING THE MACHINE
 HANDLING/TRANSPORT
 LIGHTING
Make sure that the pipe to be machined has been thoroughly deburred inside
and out
PREFITTING RINGS ON DIN 2353 COUPLINGS:
1. After deburring the pipe head, fit the nut and the ring on to the pipe.
2. Position the pipe as shown in figure 1-pos. 4, making sure that it is resting firmly
against the bush.
3. Keep the pipe lightly pressed against the bush and start pumping while checking the
pressure reading on the pressure gauge. Stop pumping when the pressure value
previously set is reached. Then open the drain plug to make the piston move back.
4. The ring will have been firmly fitted.
