If the capacity of the demineralisation cartridge is
determined based on the total water hardness (table
4), the service life of the cartridge may be unneces-
sarily shortened if the water contains high levels of
non-scaling substances (e.g. sodium).
- Determining the conductivity
The conductivity of the water has to be
determined using an electrical conductivity meter
(not included in the scope of delivery) before
installation and upon replacement of the
demineralisation cartridge. This allows the
capacity of the demineralisation cartridge to
be set according to the local conductivity of the
water.
- Determining the total hardness
In many cases, the total hardness of the water
can be used instead of conductivity to deter-
mine the capacity of the demineralisation
cartridge. With the total hardness test kit
(not included in the scope of delivery), the total
hardness should be checked before installation
and after replacing the demineralisation
cartridge.
Alternatively, the local water supplier can be
consulted for the local conductivity and total
hardness.

Type label (service card)
When the total amount of supplemented water
(M2, see type label) exceeds the maximum capa-
city or 12 months have elapsed, a demineralisation
cartridge change needs to be performed.
The following need to be listed on the type label
(service card) affixed to the front side of the demine-
ralisation cartridge:
- the conductivity / total hardness
- the diluting setting (0)
- the maximum capacity (M1)
- the original water meter reading
- the final water meter reading
- the water use based on these numbers (calcu-
lated)
