3. Function
The P300-LES demineralisation cartridge installed in
the NK300soft is for effectively reducing the mineral
deposit level. Depending on the regional conductivi-
ty (water hardness) of the water, the water is demi-
neralised at the diluting setting 0.
4. Replacing a used demineralisation
cartridge
- Shut off the water supply
(stop valve) to and from the
cartridge
- Release the cartridge pressure
at the air bleed valve
- Turn the cartridge from right to
left (clockwise) to unscrew
- from the diluting unit
- Dispose of the used cartridge
as residual waste

5. Installing a new
demineralisation cartridge
Remove the cartridge from the
package and check for signs of
damage.
Remove the hygienic cap from the
cartridge. Turn the cartridge from
left to right (counter clockwise) into
the diluting unit.
6. Filling and refilling (including venting
and pre-flushing the demineralisation
cartridge)
- Place a bucket underneath
- Open the air bleed valve
- Open the water inlet (stop valve) on the intake
side and flush approx. 15 litres of water
through the P300-LES into the bucket
- Close the air bleed valve
- Check that the demineralisation cartridge is
free of leaks
- Open the stop valve of the NK300soft and fill/
refill the heating system according to regula-
tion.
7. Capacity of the demineralisation
cartridge
The quality standards for heater water are regulated
in Germany by the directive VDI 2035 (see Table
1) and in Austria, by the ÖNORM H 5195-1 (see
Table 2). Nevertheless, many boiler manufacturers
recommend the more demanding technology of de-
mineralisation as opposed to the conventional ion
exchange method. Only the mineral deposit reduc-
tion method should be used for heating systems with
aluminium materials.
Determining the capacity
We recommend determining the capacity of the
demineralisation cartridge by measuring the con-
ductivity of the water. The conductivity in the circu-
lating water should measure less than 100 µS/cm.
With the local conductivity value and the diluting
setting 0, it is possible to determine the capacity of
the demineralisation cartridge using table 3.
