1. Application

The Tab-Ex® 02 is an intrinsically safe Zone 2 / Zone 22 and non-incendive
Class I Division 2 water-, dust- and impact resistant tablet computer for
industrial application in hazardous areas with gaseous and dust atmospheres
according to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, the IECEx System and North Ameri-
can NEC and CEC codes.

2. Safety precautions

These safety instructions contain information and safety regulations which
are to be observed. Non-observance of this information and these instruc-
tions can have serious consequences and may violate regulations. Please
read these safety instructions carefully before starting to use the device. In
the event of conflicting information the details specified in the safety instruc-
tions shall apply. In case of any doubt (in the form of translation or printing
errors) the English version shall apply.

3. Faults and damage

If there is any reason to suspect that the safety of the device has been com-
promised, it must be stopped from use and removed immediately from the
hazardous area. Actions must be taken to prevent it from being used within
the hazardous area accidentally.
The safety of the device maybe compromised, if for example:
• There is visible damage to the housing.
• The device has been improperly stored.
• The device has been damaged in transit.
• The markings or inscriptions are unreadable.
• Malfunctions occur.
• Permitted limit values have been exceeded.

4. Safety regulations

Use of the intrinsically safe Tab-Ex 02 tablet computer assumes that the

operator observes the Control Drawing for ATEX / IECEx 300043FZ50A or
Control Drawing for North America 300043FZ51A and conventional safety
regulations in order to eliminate faulty operation of the device.
