9. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: Before performing any maintenance, shut off the engine, wait for stopping the
movement of all rotating parts and disconnect the spark plug wire.
9.1 MOWER
To ensure safe operation of the mower on a regular basis:
- Check the technical condition of the lawn, especially on grass catcher.
- Check that all screw joints, especially the blade assembly.
- Check the condition and function of safety features of the mower, especially rear cover and
grass catcher.
- Check the condition and function controls the mower, especially the engine brake.
9.2 ENGINE
When use and maintenance, follow the instructions in this manual and the engine manual, supplied
with this mower. Read this instruction manual carefully and follow the instructions therein.
Under normal conditions perform the maintenance of the air cleaner according to the separate engine
manual. Clean more often under extremely dusty conditions. Poor engine performance and flooding
usually indicates that the air cleaner should be serviced.
The spark plug should be cleaned and the gap reset once a season. Spark plug replacement is
recommended at the start of each mowing season; check engine manual for correct plug type and gap
specifications.
Clean the engine regularly with a cloth or brush. Keep the cooling system (blower housing area) clean
to permit proper air circulation which is essential to engine performance and life. Be certain to remove
all grass, dirt and combustible debris from muffler area.
