Check for physical defects or signs of trauma to the unit.
Power cord and power supply module
Check integrity of the cord and power supply module for cracks, kinking or
fraying.
Sterile drape (if utilized)
Each package has to be unopened, free of tears and not saturated with any
solution prior to use in surgery.
Video cables and USB 2.0 cable
Check integrity of cables for cracks, kinking or fraying.
Auxiliary equipment necessary
• Endoscope (flexible or rigid)
• Light source
• Light guide (fiberoptic cable) for endoscope
(from light source to endoscope)
• Medical grade monitor

Using the smartbox with digital signal output
Before of the first connection of the smartbox to the PC the drivers and
application software has to be installed. Follow to the instructions of the
included installation manual (installation of the driver).
Properties needed of the PC
• USB 2.0 port
• CPU > 2 GHz
• RAM > 256 MB
• Windows 2000 or XP

Connecting the power cord
Attach the female end of „Hospital Grade" power cord into the mains sok-
ket of the power supply module.
Insert the male end of power cord into a standard outlet. Make sure the
power requirements listed on the power supply module are consistent with
outlet voltages.
