    Introduction The C1 Classic Compact is a Single-Chip-Videocamera System. It con- sists of the camera head with focusing to be adapted to an endoscope and a smartbox with separate power supply. The camera system has been developed for use in the medical- (endosco- py) and industrial field (endoscopy, laboratory diagnostic, non destructive testing (NDT)).

    Intended Use and Operation Indications for use C1 Classic Compact The C1 Classic Compact has been designed for use in endoscopy. It is preferably used with rigid or flexible endoscopes. Light sources developed and manufactured by us are available as accessories for the Compact Camera.

    Mode of operation The area of intrest, the operation area is picked up optically via the endo- scope, displayed via the endocoupler onto the CCD sensor and then converted and amplified into electrical signals. The image brightness is automatically controlled according to the light intensity („autoshutter“). Camera signals are supplied to the smartbox via a camera cable and are furt- her amplified for monitor display.

Only the part of the camera chip, which contains image informations, is used for controlling the sensitiveness. With help of this function, black margins of e. g. thin optics with small working diame- ters can be faded out for the calculation.

    10.2 Disinfection The smartbox is constructively only suitable to be disinfected by wiping. The unit is not allowed to be inserted in liquids. The camera head is watertight. The plug of the camera head is not allowed to encounter liquids. Generally, we recommend using sterile drapes for single use for the steri- le covering of camera head and camera cable.
