Safety Instructions Please read the following safety instructions before operating this product. Keep the instructions for future reference. Please heed the warnings and follow the instructions. Caution: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not open the subwoofer. There are no user- serviceable parts inside. Please refer service issues to qualified service personnel. This product, as well as all attached extension cords, must be terminated with an earth ground three-conductor AC mains power cord like the one supplied with the product. To prevent shock hazard, all three components must always be used. Always switch off your entire system before connecting or disconnecting any cables, or when cleaning any components. Do not use this apparatus near water. Do not expose this product to rain or moisture, never wet the inside with any liquid and never pour or spill liquids directly onto this unit. Please do not put any objects filled with liquids (e.g. vases, etc.) onto the speaker. Always use fully checked cables. Defective cables can harm your speakers — and yourself! Also, they are a common source for any kind of noise, hum, crackling etc. Never expose this product to extremely high or low temperatures. Never operate this product in an explosive atmosphere. -

Information for Set Up Important information for set up Acclimation: After having unpacked your subwoofer, please allow the system to acclimate to the temperature of the room for approximately an hour. Solid stand: It is important to ensure the subwoofer sits firmly on a solid surface! Transportation/packaging: We recommend that you retain the original packaging, as it is the best way to guarantee safe transportation should the need to do so arise. Break-in time: Please note that the subwoofers will take some break-in time to achieve optimum sonic performance. Danger from high SPLs: Exposure to high sound pressure levels may cause permanent hearing loss! Please do not get close to the subwoofers when using them at high volumes. -

Quick Start / Connection Before connecting the subwoofers to your audio components and the power source make sure that both the subwoofer and your audio system are switched off and set the level controls fully counterclockwise. Input Connect the left and right line-level signal from your signal source (preamplifier, mixer, etc.) to the LEFT and RIGHT INPUT jacks. Use either XLR (balanced) or RCA (unbalanced) cables. Subwoofer Placement It is common knowledge that low frequencies (below about 100Hz) are non- directional, meaning they can hardly be located by the listener. It is, however, a common misunderstanding that therefore the placement of a subwoofer does not matter. It does matter. Due to the fact that every room (geometry, furniture, etc.) is unique, the fol- lowing descriptions intend to be a first introduction to the subject. The aim is to assist you tackling the most common problems with subwoofers and room acoustics, notably interference and standing waves. Distance to satellites In most set ups it is advisable to place the subwoofer not too far from the satellites to minimize the chance of Interferences. Interference means the superposition of two or more waves resulting in an attenuation/cancellation or enhancement of the specific frequency/frequencies. Furthermore, big refelexion faces in close range of the subwoofer should be avoided if possible. Walls/Distance to walls Generally, every wall in relative close distance to the subwoofer enhances its sound pressure by about 6 dB. For instance, placing the subwoofer in a corner of a room will make it about 18 dB louder. It is likely that this will result in an impairment of the precision of the musical reproduction. -

Controls Sub Level (Volume) Input Sensitivity control from -60 dB to +6 dB relative to 775 mV when used via the symmetrical XLR input or relative to 250 mV when used via the asymmetrical Cinch (RCA) input. fig. 4: Sub Level Sub Filter (Frequency): The upper frequency limit of the unit is variable and can be set to any value between 50 and 150Hz. The 85Hz marker indicates the recommendation of Dolby® labs for surround sound settings. In many cases, a slightly lower crossover frequency delivers tighter bass response, for typical near- midfield monitors we recommend 70 -75Hz as upper limit. fig. -

Troubleshooting ADAM products are designed and manufactured to the highest quality stan- dards. However, if any problems with your subwoofer occur, we recommend to proceed as follows: Problem: The unit does not work. • Please check the connection between the source of power (socket) and the AC jack. • Check if the subwoofer is switched on. • Make sure the electric circuit works. Problem: The LED shows normal operation (green) but there is either no or only a distorted audio signal. • Check the volumes of both the subwoofer and your signal source. • Check the wiring. Is the cable defective? Are all cables connected cor- rectly? If possible, check with new cables. • Connect the subwoofer as directly to the signal source as possible (please mind the volume!). Please make sure that no liquids get inside the cabinet. Do not spray any fluids on the sub. Do not use a wet cloth for cleaning. Do not use flammable or acidly chemicals for cleaning. Do not touch the membranes of the subwoofers. We recommend using a lint-free, damp cloth for cleaning. The subwoofer membranes may be dusted using a very soft brush. Transport / Package In case you have to send your speakers to any other location, it is of vital importance that you use the original packaging materials. Experience has shown that it is very difficult to avoid damage if you have to send them with- out these. ADAM Audio can not be held responsible for damages due to im- proper packaging. If a transport is necessary and the original package is no more available, a new one can be purchased from ADAM Audio. 12.2 How to claim repairs under warranty Should service be required, please contact the ADAM Audio dealer where the product has been purchased. Einleitung Sehr verehrte Kundin, sehr verehrter Kunde, wir gratulieren Ihnen zu Ihrer Entscheidung für ein Produkt aus dem Hause ADAM Professional Audio! Sie haben ein hochwertiges Aktivsystem erwor- ben, das sowohl zur zuverlässigen Beurteilung von Tonaufnahmen als auch für bestmögliche Wiedergabequalität entworfen und gefertigt worden ist. Mit dem Sub2100 haben Sie einen Subwoofer der Superlative gewählt: Die Kombination aus einem riesigen 543mm-Tieftöner, der 50mm-Schwingspule und satten 1000 Watt (RMS) Verstärkerleisung setzet einen neuen Maßstab im Bereich der Subwoofer. Bitte lesen Sie diese Bedienungsanleitung vor der Inbetriebnahme und beachten Sie die Sicherheitshinweise und Garantiebestimmungen. -

Sicherheitshinweise Bitte beachten Sie die folgenden Sicherheitshinweise, bevor Sie Ihre neuen Lautsprecher in Betrieb nehmen. Bewahren Sie diese Hinweise an einem sicheren Ort auf für ein späteres Nachschlagen. Achtung: Öffnen Sie die Monitore nicht. Gefahr eines Stromschlages! Es befinden sich keine wartungsbedürftigen Teile im Gehäuseinnern. Wartungen im Inneren des Lautsprechers und Reperaturen dürfen nur durch Fachpersonal vorgenommen werden. -
Seite 19: Hinweise Zur Inbetriebnahme
Hinweise zur Inbetriebnahme Allgemeine Hinweise zur Inbetriebnahme Akklimatisierung: Nach dem Auspacken und der Aufstellung des Subwoofers sollte dieser ca. eine Stunde unangeschlossen ‚ruhen’, um sich der jeweiligen Raumtempera- tur anpassen zu können. Sicherer Stand: Der Subwoofer muss ohne zu wackeln auf einer festen Unterlage stehen! Transport: Wir empfehlen, beim Auspacken der Teile Ihres neuen Subwoofers darauf zu achten, die Verpackung nicht zu beschädigen und aufzubewahren, um den Subwoofer bei Bedarf sicher transportieren zu können (siehe 9.). Einspielzeit: Beachten Sie, dass dieser Subwoofer, abhängig von Pegel und Nutzungsfre- quenz, einige Tage benötigt, um seine optimale Klangqualität zu erreichen. Gefahr durch hohe Lautstärken: Zu hohe Lautstärken können ihr Gehör schädigen! Vermeiden Sie direkte Nähe zu Lautsprechern, die mit hohen Pegeln betrieben werden. -
Seite 20: Schnellstart / Anschluss
Schnellstart / Anschluss Vergewissern Sie sich vor Anschluss der Kabel, dass sowohl die Subwoofer (Netzschalter) als auch die betreffenden Komponenten Ihrer Audio-Anlage ausgeschaltet sind und stellen Sie die Lautstärke auf Minimum. Input (Eingänge) Schließen Sie das rechte und linke Signal von ihrer Signalquelle (Vorverstärker, Mischkonsole, etc.) an die LEFT und RIGHT Eingangsbuchsen an. Benutzen sie entweder XLR (balanced) oder RCA (unbalanced) Kabel. Innerhalb der meisten professionellen Anwendungen wird XLR die Abb. 2: Inputs beste Wahl sein; RCA hingegen ist häufig im HiFi-Bereich anzutreffen. -

Empfehlungen zur Aufstellung Bekannt ist, dass tiefe Frequenzen (unterhalb von ca. 100 Hz) vom menschlichen Ohr schwer ortbar sind. Das bedeutet aber nicht, dass die Platzierung eines Subwoofers im Raum bedeutungslos wäre. Da nahezu jeder Raum in Maßen und Möblierung von allen anderen abweicht, können die folgenden Ausführungen nur einführende Hinweise darstellen. Sie sollen eine erste Orientierung ermöglichen, um häufig auftretende Probleme mit Subwoofern erkennen und bekämpfen zu können. -

Empfehlung der Dolby®-Laboratorien für Surround Sound Wiedergabe entspricht. Abb. 5: Wenn möglich schicken Sie das Signal zunächst in den Verstärker Sub Filter des Sub2100 und von dort in die Satelliten. Die Möglichkeit den Baßanteil von diesen Lautsprechern fernzuhalten führt in der Regel zu einer besseren Qualität der Wiedergabe. Wenn Sie die Frequenz verändern, ist es ratsam, auszuprobieren, ob eine Phasenumschaltung klanglich sinnvoll ist. -

Fehlerbehebung Alle ADAM Produkte werden nach höchsten Qualitätsstandarts gefertigt. Sollte wider Erwarten dennoch ein Problem auftauchen, empfehlen wir, zunächst folgende Maßnahmen durchzuführen: Das Gerät funktioniert nicht/kein Strom • Überprüfen Sie zunächst, ob die Verbindung zwischen der Stromquelle und Netzeingang des Gerätes gestört ist. • Überprüfen Sie dann, ob das Gerät eingeschaltet ist. • Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Stromkreis der Steckdose funktioniert. Für Schäden, die von unzureichenden Verpackungsmaßnahmen herrühren, kann ADAM Audio nicht haftbar gemacht werden. Sollte für einen Transport die Originalverpackung nicht mehr zur Verfügung stehen, kann eine neue von ADAM Audio kostenpflichtig erworben werden. Umweltinformation Alle ADAM Produkte entsprechen den internationalen Richtlinien bezüglich der Beschränkung der Verwendung bestimmter gefährlicher Stoffe in Elek- tro- und Elektronikgeräten (RoHS) und über Elektro- und Elektronik-Altgeräte (WEEE).
