3. Start-up

Before starting up the unit it is essential to check whether the selector switch W12 is set to the correct line
voltage and the selector switch W34 to the correct line frequency.
An incorrect setting can lead to faulty operation or to destruction of the unit !

3.1. Motor connection

The torque adjuster and the torque motor should basically be connected in a condition without voltage. Fig.
1 shows the connection in star and delta connection for clockwise and counterclockwise running. Shielding
the motor supply cable is recommended to suppress interference fields. Connect the shielding on both sides
to zero potential (protective conductor PE).

3.2. Setpoint connection

Fig. 1 shows the connection of the setpoint cable for the internal and external feed. The setpoint cable
should be shielded or at least twisted as protection against interference fields. Connect the shield at the
setpoint source to the associated zero potential.

3.3. Unit adjustment

The unit is adjusted on delivery so that it can be operated with a GEORGII KOBOLD torque motor as listed
without special adjustment. With this standard setting and the torque motor at operating heat in star
connection, the control range is approx. 10 to 100% of the nominal torque. The control range can be
optimized further for special applications by adjusting the torque adjuster individually to the connected
torque motor.
Adjustment procedure:
Block the torque motor.
Set trimmer R22 to the left stop, trimmer R18 and R31 to the right stop. The setting range of the setpoint
is now a maximum.
Set the setpoint to minimum.
The minimum output voltage is now determined only by the trimmer R36. Set trimmer R36 to the left to
the smallest possible output voltage or the smallest possible torque.
Note: If the basic voltage is set too low with trimmer R36, then the torque motor no longer has a defined
direction of rotation any more at low setpoints. To avoid this, either the basic voltage must be set higher
or the minimum torque must be raised with trimmer R22
Set the setpoint to maximum.
If the adjuster overloads at this point (droning motor noise), then the output voltage must be reduced with
the trimmer R31 far enough so that the noise disappears.
