- before repairing or maintaining the planer thicknesser, disconnect the
power cord from the power socket. The power cord must be kept dis-
connected every time you adjust or maintain the machine.
- In order to prevent electric shock, fire or injury, only use identical replace-
ment parts with equivalent characteristics.
- If the power cord is worn, cut or damaged, replace it immediately.
The TRd250 planer thicknesser requires very little maintenance. The me-
chanical bearings have lifelong lubrication.
however, after approximately 10 hours of use, the following components
should be checked, followed by maintenance if needed:
• Bearings of infeed and outfeed rollers; clean if necessary.
• Pulley wheel bearings.
• Keep the tables clean and remove any resin or other particles.
• Clean the blades and remove the resin.
• Clean the motor ventilation grilles and remove any dust that could block
them and lead to overheating.
• Have the carbon brushes checked by a competent or qualified person.
• Regularly check the cutting quality of the cutters. If the cutters are blunt,
sharpen them or replace them promptly. The cutters must be sharpened
together and at the same time, so that the two cutters remain perfectly
balanced.

Always disconnect the machine from the power supply before replacing or
sharpening the cutters. Sharp cutters are required for high-quality finishing
and will also keep the motor safe from overload. Replace or sharpen the
cutters if they are burnt or blackened.
1. Remove the fence (8) Fig.4.
2. Raise the blade guard (9) Fig.4 so as to clear the access to the cutters.
3. Unscrew the tension screws (A) Fig.18 of the cutters with the key provi-
ded (10) Fig.2, turning them clockwise as shown in Fig.18.
4. Turn the cutter block (5) so that the block (3) shown on the figure oppo-
site bearing the cutter (2) can be removed from the cutter block (5). Re-
move the block (3) with the screws (4) and the cutter (2).
5. Clean all the parts and the cutter block slot.
6. Insert the block (3) with the new cutter (2) and align the assembly si-
deways with the cutter block (5) so that the assembly does not go past the
cutter block on the left or the right.
7. Position the cutter adjustment tool illustrated in Fig.19 on the surface of
the outfeed table. Check that part A of the device is flat on the surface of
the table, part b at the end of the table and part C on the edge of the cutter.
8. with one hand, press the cutter adjustment device and fasten the tension
screws (A) Fig.18 with the key supplied, turning the screws anticlockwise.
9. Proceed similarly with the second cutter.
10. Then turn the cutter block by hand to make sure that none of the cutters
is rubbing against the table.
11. After adjusting the cutters, remember to put back the blade guard to
cover the cutters.

Never use the wrong size of cutters. The fastening system may not be ef-
fective and the cutters may not be retained fully.
BELT rEPLaCEMEnT
Take off the old belt and put in a new one, turning the belt gradually so that
it is fixed on each of the two pulleys.
