d. Put the valve back into the valve casing, and
gently twist until the valve guide locks into
position.
e. Blow air through the instrument to ensure the
valve is inserted properly. If air will not pass
through the trumpet, rotate the valve 180° , and
blow air through the instrument again to test
proper alignment.
f. Carefully screw on the top valve cap and depress
the valve several times to evenly distribute the
lubricant.
Step 3.
After lubrication, if the valves do not work smoothly,
carefully remove and inspect each valve for dirt
and residue. Also, examine the valve and valve
casing for possible dents.
Step 4.
Regularly clean and lubricate each of the tuning
slides:
a. Depress the valves and remove each tuning
slide.
