AIR-X SPEAKER
34
7.
Unbalanced input (stereo), RCA: This is the standard input for all commercially available con-
sumer electronics sources (e.g. CD play-ers, tuners, line output from televisions etc.). You only
need this input if you want to operate the active loudspeaker without the wireless connection i.e.
without the AIR-X BASE.
In this case, set the selector switch WIRELESS ON / OFF (12.) to "OFF". This also switches off the
remote control function.
Balanced input: Balanced sources such as certain high-end CD players, professional mixing desks,
8.
or similar equipment can be con-nected here. You only need this input if you want to operate the
active loudspeaker without the wireless connection i.e. without the AIR-X BASE.
In this case, set the selector switch WIRELESS ON / OFF (12.) to "OFF".
Pinout: Studio standard, 1 = ground (GND), 2 = „hot" pin („+"), 3 = „cold" pin („-").
Selector switches for a range of presets: A total of 7 selector switches are provided here for ad-
9.
justing the sound to suit your personal preferences and to specific setup situations. A switch for
setting the brightness level of the LED on the front of the speakers is also provided.
Application examples: also see page 36 ff.
The two selector switches FREE / ON-WALL and FREE / CONSOLE provide basic settings for various
setup configurations, close to walls (distance to side or end wall <= 20 cm), on a desk / sideboard
or free-standing (or on a stand). There are also 2 additional selector switches for adjusting the
tonal balance. You can use these to boost high-frequency output (TREBLE) and low-frequency
output (BASS) by 2 dB respectively. The LOUDNESS / OFF switch activates (left) or deactivates
(right) the Dynamic Loudness function, also see p. 37. The VOLUME / DEFAULT switch allows you
to set the volume level of the amplifier to a defined value. This is useful if you want to use the
active loudspeaker without the AIR-X BASE and need a fixed basic volume level. Use the IR ON
/ OFF switch to disable the built-in infra-red sensor in the active loudspeaker. This prevents any
changes to settings if you press the remote control by accident. The last switch allows you to set
the brightness level of the LED on the front of the loudspeaker to your personal preference.
The individual factory settings are as follows: Free-standing (FREE), all equalizers off (TREBLE = 0
dB, BASS = 0 dB), LOUDNESS off, VOLUME not set to DEFAULT, IR ON, LED brightness = DAY.
10.
Mode selector switch: Use the mode selector switch to specify which input channel you want to
play through loudspeaker. In addition to the right ("R") and left ("L") channel, you can also select
the combined mono signal setting ("R+L"). In a stereo setup, make sure that you set the left loud-
speaker to "L" and the right loudspeaker to "R".
11.
Room selector switch: This switch allows you to set the active loudspeaker to one of 3 rooms.
Loudspeakers set to the same room will all respond to the remote control signals they receive,
whereas loudspeakers set to a different room will ignore these signals.
Example: You have two pairs of loudspeakers set up in one room but want to play different music
through each pair (e.g. in the dining area and the living area). The two loudspeakers in the living
area are set to "ROOM
"1", while the two loudspeakers in the dining area are set to "ROOM 2". If you now adjust the vol-
ume of one loudspeaker in the dining area, the volume of the second loudspeaker in the dining
area also changes, while the two loudspeakers in the living area ignore the remote control com-
mands.
12.
Wireless switch: Use this switch to activate and deactivate the built-in wireless receiver in the
active loudspeaker.
If you want to operate the loudspeaker without the wireless function, set the switch to "OFF". If
you want to use the wireless function (even if only temporarily), the switch must be set to "ON",
otherwise the loudspeaker cannot receive any wireless signals.
