ATTACHING THE GROUND SUPPORT
1. Attach the ground support using the slots in the
rails.
2. Put the bolts through the rails and the ground
support. Attach the nuts and tighten securely.
NOTE! The ground support must always be used!
POSITIONING AND ERECTING THE LADDER
• Erect the ladder in the correct position, with the correct angle for leaning ladders (the
ladder angle must be approximately 1:4), making sure that the rungs or steps are
level. You have to fully open out step ladders.
• If there are any locking mechanisms, make sure they are properly secured before
using the ladder. Refer to the user manual.
• You must put the ladder on an even, level and stable surface.
• You must place a leaning ladder against a level and strong surface and it should be
secured before use, for example by anchoring it or using a support mechanism.
• Never reposition the ladder from the top.
• When positioning the ladder, it is important to take into consideration the risk of
collision with, for example, pedestrians, vehicles or doors. Lock any doors (not
emergency exits) and windows in the working area, if possible.
• Identify any electrical risks in the working area, such as overhead lines and other
exposed electrical equipment.
• The ladder must only be used with the ground support attached.
• The ladder must never be placed on slippery surfaces (e.g. on ice, shiny surfaces or
extremely contaminated solid surfaces) unless effective measures have been taken to
prevent it from slipping or the surfaces have been thoroughly cleaned.
USING THE LADDER
• Do not exceed the maximum total load for the type of ladder.
• Do not overreach! Users should keep the centre of their body between the rails and
have both feet on the same step/rung throughout the task.
• Do not step off a leaning ladder at a higher level without additional security, such as
tying off or using a suitable support device.
• Do not use step ladders to access a higher height.
• Do not stand on the top three rungs of a leaning ladder.
• Do not stand on the top two steps/rungs of a stepladder without a platform and
support for your hands/knees.
• Ladders should only be used for light work during a short period of time.
• Use non-conductive ladders where live electrical work is unavoidable.
