2. Some guidelines for using the steam bath
Before you start to enjoy the steam bath, you should fi rst have a shower and then dry your-
self thoroughly to promote perspiration.
• After the required cabin temperature has been reached, enter the cabin and close the
door. Do not sit anywhere too close to the steam outlet otherwise you could be scalded by
the hot steam (100°C).
• Stay inside a steam room only as long as you feel comfortable. Set the timer between 15-
20 minutes as a guideline.
• Always be sure to drink enough before and after using the steam room (mineral water,
freshly pressed fruit juice, etc.) in order to balance the loss of fl uids. If you drink between
two sessions in the steam bath, you will reduce the effects of the body purifi cation process.
• After enjoying a hot steam bath, follow it by a Kneipp treatment by applying alternately hot
and cold water. This will get rid of the last trace of tiredness, will revitalise your circulation
and will guard against calcifi cation of the arteries. It's good for you and, more than that, it
is very healthy.
• The steam comes to rest gently on the surface of your skin, penetrates gently into the
upper skin layers and thus melts away all those unpleasant feelings you have from tensed
muscles.
• As you inhale in this mild, humid warm air (with the recommended cabin temperature
between 42° and 45°C) your mucous membranes will be gently dampened and your respi-
ratory tracts cleansed. If you have a chronic illness (such as asthma, hay fever, etc.) you
should always ask your doctor before starting to take a steam bath.
