Initial operation
Once the filter container has been filled and the hoses are connected as described above, the initial rinsing process can be initiated to
commission the pump. If the filtration system was installed above the water line (max. 1.50 m), please remove the pre-filter cover and fill the
pump housing with water. Carefully close the cover and check to ensure that it is properly seated and sealed. Switch on the filter pump and wait
until the pump begins sucking water. When this occurs, the backwashing process can be initiated. Repeat the process if necessary (see > 6 <
Backwashing process).
According to DIN – EN 12904, at this grain size, up to 10% of the grains may be undersized. This can result in small

amounts of fines in the pool until the undersized grains are completely rinsed out.
5.1
Filtration time
The water contained in the swimming pool should be circulated through the pump at least 3 - 5 times in a 24-hour period, depending on the load
on the system and its size. The time required depends on the capacity of the filtration system and the size of the swimming pool. We

recommend a minimum operating time of 12 hours per day. If the pool is used intensively or the water is unusually dirty, the operating time
should be increased. Using a simple, commercially available mechanical timer or filter controls, the filtration times can be programmed in
advance at various intervals.
5.2
Filtration
The polluting agents from the re-circulated water are retained in the filter bed in the filter container. Adding proper flocculants by hand improves
filtration considerably and reduces the need for treating agents.
In addition to the mechanical effects of the filter, so-called physiochemical processes performed by the flocculent in the filter bed also play a role
in the purification capacity of your filtration system.

Backwashing process
Switch the filter pump to "AUS"
Place the 6-way central valve in the >> 2<< "Backwashing" position
Switch the filter pump to "EIN" Following a 5 minute backwashing period the filter is clean. Visually inspect the drainpipe inlet.
Switch the filter pump to "AUS"
Place the 6-way central valve in the >> 4 << "Purging" position (= valve rinse)
Switch the filter pump to "EIN"
Following a 30 second post-rinse period the initial filtrate is discharged into the drainpipe.
Switch the filter pump to "AUS"
Place the 6-way central valve in the >> 1 << "Filtration" position
Switch the filter pump to "EIN"
Your filtration system is ready for further operation
In general, prior to each switching of the 6-way central valve, the filter pump has to be switched off by using either the

timer switch or removing the plug from the power mains.
Ensure the free flow of waste water from the backwater, prior to initiating the rinsing process.
The rinsing process must not be interrupted. Before initiating the rinsing process the required amount of water must be

available.

Operating instructions for the 6-way central valve
The filtration system is equipped with a 6-way central valve on the container cover for manual control of the device, which is designed for the
required flow rate.
Press down firmly on the valve lever with the heels of your hands then rotate to the desired setting. The following operational settings are
possible:
Filtration
1
Backwashing
2
Circulation
3
Rinsing
4
Purging
5
Closed
6
Water flow from the pool, downstream through the filter container back to the pool
Water flow from the pool, upstream through the filter container back into either the drainpipe or the
pump sump
Water flow from the pool and back into the pool without filtering
Water flow from the pool, downstream through the filter container back into either the drainpipe or the
pump sump
Water flow without filtration into the drainpipe or pump sump
All valve outlets are closed; no water circulation
