Getting started Unpacking Remove all packaging from the unit. Retain the packaging. If you dispose of it please do so according to local regula- tions. • Press STANDBY again to switch the unit on. • Press STANDBY to switch the unit off (standby mode). Disconnect the AC adapter from the mains socket if you want to switch the unit off completely. This will prevent the radio from switching on after a power cut. Fitting Batteries You can fit batteries (not supplied) to your radio for portable operation. • Press the battery cover catches (arrowed). • Lift off the battery cover. • Fit 4 x ‘C’/LR14 batteries into the battery compartment, observing polarity as shown. • Re-fit the battery cover. Dispose of used batteries with regard to the recycling regulations in your area. Do NOT short circuit batteries or throw them into water, the general rubbish or in a fire. -

When the scan finishes, the radio will play the first station in the sequence. Note: If no stations are found, switch the radio off and move it to a location with a stronger signal. When you switch the radio back on it will automatically repeat the scan process. Setting the Clock The time and date are set automatically from DAB station information Basis operation Mode Select • Press MODE repeatedly to switch between DAB and FM mode. The mode will be displayed. Volume Control • Turn the VOLUME dial to adjust the volume to the level you want. The volume level will be displayed on a bargraph. Display Brightness To conserve power, the display light will dim when set to Standby.If you need to brighten the display at any time when set to Standby (for example, to check the time at night). • Press one of the front panel buttons (except STANDBY).The display will brighten for 30 seconds, then revert to the dim setting. Listening to DAB radio Set the radio to DAB +mode. - Seite 17 Browsing Stations • Press or to browse up or down the station list for the station you want. Secondary Services A > symbol after the name of a station indicates there are secondary services available for that station. These second- ary services are related to the primary station, e.g. a sports station may want to add extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list. • To select a secondary station, browse to the secondary service you want, then press ENTER to select it. A > symbol is displayed before the station name if a station is a secondary service. If the secondary service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary station. DAB Scanning You can perform a Full Scan or Quick Scan at any time to scan for new DAB stations. The stations will be added to your station list. A Full Scan will scan all DAB bands, a Quick Scan will scan only the bands in your area. • While listening to DAB radio, press SCAN to start a Quick Scan or press and hold SCAN to start a Full Scan. The scan will take a few minutes.

Multiplex Name A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are bundled and transmitted on one frequency. There are national and local multiplexes. Local ones contain stations that are specific to that area. Multiplex Number and Frequency The channel and frequency of the present station will be displayed, such as “11C 220.352MHz”. BitRate The display will show the audio mode and the digital audio bit rate being received. - Seite 19 FM Display Modes The bottom line of the FM radio display is also an information display. • Press INFO repeatedly to change the information displayed. The FM information display options are shown below. Radio Text The broadcaster can include a scrolling text that displays information about the current programme. Programme Type This describes the “Style” or “Genre” of music that is being broadcast e.g. “Rock” or “Classical”. Signal Strength The display will show a slide bar indicating the signal strength: the stronger the signal, the longer the bar will be from left to right. Time/Date The broadcaster (radio station) provides time and date information automatically so there’s no need to manually set this information.

The last preset station and preset number played will be shown on the bottom line of the display. if you want to choose a different preset station to play. • Press or to choose a different preset. • Press ENTER when the preset station you want to play is displayed. The preset station will be played. Sleep You can set the Sleep mode timer to play the radio for a preset time, then automatically set the radio to Standby. While the radio is playing. • Press ALARM. Sleep Timer and ‘OFF’ will be displayed. Press or to set the Sleep mode time that you want. Choose from 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes. • Press ENTER to confirm. The sleep time setting will be confirmed on the display and will count down until the radio sets to Standby.

Software Version and Factory Reset The Software Version function will display the software version used in your radio. The information may be useful to a service engineer. The Factory Reset function will delete all station lists, radio presets and alarm settings. It may also be necessary to reset your radio when you move to another area. This will enable the radio to erase and re-acquire the new station list. Software version display: • Press and hold INFO. The software version will be displayed After 10 seconds the software version display will clear. To continue and reset the radio: • Press INFO while the software version is displayed System Reset will be displayed • Press ENTER if you want to continue. Press Enter Key to Reset’ will be displayed • Press ENTER to confirm and reset the radio. After a short delay, the radio will re-start and perform a quick scan. A new DAB station list will be saved and all preset station memories will be erased. -
