 Do not attempt to disassemble or convert this unit.
 Do not use or store this unit in the following locations:
 Where the range of recommended operating conditions is exceeded.
(Inside a closed car in summer or in strong sunshine/in direct sunlight/
near a heater, etc.)
 Humid or corrosive locations.
 Be careful not to get any dirt, dust or other foreign matter onto the terminal
or the M2 media slot of this Adaptor.

 Insert the M2 media into this Adaptor as shown in illustration . The

M2 media may not function properly if not adequately inserted. Do not

insert the M2 media too far.

 Verify the correct direction of insertion before use.
 The projection for attaching the strap on this USB adaptor may get in the
way of another USB port on PCs that have two adjacent ports.
If that is the case on your PC, move this USB adaptor to the USB port where
the projection will not interfere with the connection of other devices.
 Do not use more than one M2 USB Adaptor at the same time.
 We recommend that you make a backup copy of important data.
Sony shall not be responsible for any damage to or loss of data you recorded.
 Recorded data may be damaged or lost in the following situations:
 If you remove the M2 media or this USB Adaptor or turn off the

Using M2 USB Adaptor
Operating environment
The following environment is recommended for use.
For Windows users
OS: Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or later/Windows XP
Service Pack 2 or later/Windows Vista
USB port: Standard equipment
For Mac OS users
OS: Mac OS X v10.2 or later
USB port: Standard equipment
 Operation is not guaranteed for all computers with the recommended
environment.
 The above operating systems must be installed on the computer when
shipped from the factory.
 Operation is not guaranteed when used with other USB device (product not
supplied in standard PC package) and this USB Adaptor concurrently.
 Operation is not guaranteed if this media and USB Adaptor are connected
to a USB hub.
 USB connection may not be restored if a computer operation is resumed
after the suspend/resume or sleep function.
 This Adaptor is compatible with USB 2.0.
Connecting M2 USB Adaptor to the computer
This Adaptor operates with the OS standard equipment driver. This USB
Adaptor can be used as a "Removable Drive" simply by connecting to the
USB port.
Connect this Adaptor according to the following steps.

1 Insert the M2

2 Slide the button on the M2 USB adaptor while pressing it down to extend
the USB connector. (illustration )
For Windows users
 Connect this Adaptor to the USB port of the computer.
 Open "My Computer" ("Computer" on Windows Vista).
 Check that a newly recognized "Removable Drive (X:)" icon has appeared.
 The drive letter (X:) varies depending on the computer.
For Mac OS users
 Connection is complete when the disc icon of this Adaptor appears on the
desktop.
 The disc icon of USB Adaptor will not appear on the desktop if there is no
M2 media inserted in USB Adaptor.

 When the Removable disk icon is not displayed, disconnect any other
USB device or turn off the power and reboot the computer.
Removing M2 USB Adaptor from the computer
For Windows users
1 Confirm that the access lamp of this USB Adaptor is not flashing.
2 Remove this USB Adaptor.
For Mac OS users
1 Confirm that the access lamp of this USB Adaptor is not flashing.
2 Move the disk icon of this USB Adaptor to the trash icon to remove.
For details, refer to the operating instructions of the computer or OS.

 Le fonctionnement n' e st pas garanti en cas d'utilisation avec un autre
périphérique USB (produit non monté en standard) et avec cet adaptateur
USB.
 Le bon fonctionnement n' e st pas garanti si ce support et cet adaptateur USB
sont raccordés à un concentrateur USB.
 Il est possible que les connexions USB ne soient pas restaurées si un

Raccordement de l'adaptateur USB M2 à l'ordinateur
Cet adaptateur fonctionne avec le pilote d' é quipement standard du système
d' e xploitation. Cet adaptateur USB peut être utilisé comme « Lecteur amovible »
en le raccordant simplement au port USB.
Raccordez cet adaptateur conformément aux étapes suivantes.
1 Insérez le support M2 dans cet adaptateur. (illustration )

2 Faites coulisser le bouton de l'adaptateur USB M2 tout en l' e nfonçant pour
sortir le connecteur USB. (illustration )
Pour les utilisateurs de Windows
 Branchez cet adaptateur sur le port USB de votre ordinateur
 Ouvrez le « Poste de travail » (« Ordinateur » sous Windows Vista).
 Vérifiez qu'une icône est apparue pour le « lecteur amovible (X) ».
 La lettre du lecteur (X:) varie selon l' o rdinateur.
Pour les utilisateurs de Mac OS
 Le branchement est terminé lorsque l'icône de disque amovible apparaît sur
le bureau.
 L'icône de disque de l'adaptateur USB n'apparaît pas sur le bureau si aucun
support M2 n' e st inséré dans l'adaptateur USB.

 Lorsque l'icône du disque amovible n' e st pas affichée, débranchez tout
autre périphérique USB ou éteignez et redémarrez l' o rdinateur.

1 Vérifiez que le témoin d'accès de cet adaptateur USB ne clignote pas.
2 Retirez cet adaptateur USB.
Pour les utilisateurs de Mac OS
1 Vérifiez que le témoin d'accès de cet adaptateur USB ne clignote pas.
2 Déplacez l'icône de disque de cet adaptateur USB vers l'icône de la corbeille
pour retirer l'appareil de l' o rdinateur.

 Schützen Sie das Produkt vor Stößen, verbiegen Sie es nicht und lassen Sie

den Adapter ein. Wenn der M2 -Datenträger falsch eingesetzt wird,

funktioniert er nicht richtig. Schieben Sie den M2 -Datenträger nicht zu

weit hinein.
 Überprüfen Sie vor dem Gebrauch die richtige Ausrichtung.
 Der abstehende Haken zum Anbringen des Gurts am USB-Adapter kann
bei Computern stören, bei denen die Anschlüsse nebeneinander liegen.
Wenn das bei Ihrem Computer der Fall ist, dann stecken Sie den USB-
Adapter in den USB-Anschluss, bei dem der abstehende Haken den
Anschluss anderer Geräte nicht beeinflusst.
 Verwenden Sie nicht mehr als einen M2-USB-Adapter gleichzeitig.
 Es empfiehlt sich, von wichtigen Daten eine Sicherungskopie zu erstellen.

Verwendung des M2-USB-Adapters
Betriebsumgebung
Für den Betrieb werden die folgenden Umgebungen empfohlen.

 Der Betrieb kann auch bei Computern mit der empfohlenen Umgebung
nicht gewährleistet werden.
 Die oben genannten Betriebssysteme müssen werkseitig auf dem Computer
installiert sein.
 Der Betrieb kann nicht gewährleistet werden, wenn ein anderes (nicht im
Standardlieferumfang des PCs enthaltenes) USB-Gerät und dieser USB-
Adapter gleichzeitig verwendet werden.
 Der Betrieb kann nicht gewährleistet werden, wenn der Datenträger und
der USB-Adapter an einen USB-Hub angeschlossen werden.
 Die USB-Verbindung wird möglicherweise nicht wiederhergestellt,
wenn der Computer vom Standby- oder Ruhezustand wieder in den
Normalbetrieb geschaltet wird.
 Der Adapter ist USB 2.0-kompatibel.
Anschließen des M2-USB-Adapters an den Computer
Dieser Adapter arbeitet mit den Standardgerätetreibern des Betriebssystems.
Schließen Sie den USB-Adapter einfach an einen USB-Anschluss an, um ihn
als „Austauschbaren Datenträger" zu verwenden.
Führen Sie zum Anschließen des Adapters die folgenden Schritte aus.
1 Setzen Sie den M2 -Datenträger in den Adapter ein (Abbildung ).

2 Verschieben Sie den Knopf am M2-USB-Adapter, während Sie ihn nach
unten drücken, um den USB-Stecker herauszuschieben. (Abbildung )

 Schließen Sie den Adapter an einen USB-Anschluss des Computers an.
 Öffnen Sie „Arbeitsplatz" („Computer" unter Windows Vista).
 Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das neu erkannte Symbol „Austauschbarer
Datenträger (X:)" angezeigt wird.
 Der Laufwerkbuchstabe (X:) hängt vom Computer ab.
Für Benutzer von Mac OS
 Der Adapter ist richtig angeschlossen, wenn das Disc-Symbol für den
Adapter auf dem Desktop erscheint.
 Das Disc-Symbol für den USB-Adapter wird nur auf dem Desktop
angezeigt, wenn ein M2 -Datenträger in den USB-Adapter eingesetzt ist.

 Wenn das Symbol für den austauschbaren Datenträger nicht angezeigt
wird, trennen Sie alle anderen USB-Geräte vom Computer oder schalten
Sie den Computer aus und starten Sie ihn neu.
