Setup
An incorrect supply voltage can damage
the Connection Kit!
As a power supply, use only the plug-in power sup-
ply provided or the Battery Pack BP-04-N which is
available as an accessory.
Very high signal levels can damage
loudspeakers or your hearing!
Reduce the volume of connected playback equip-
ment before connecting the microphone. This is
also advisable in order to avoid acoustic feed-
back.
Connect the microphone by means of an XLR cable
to the microphone input of the Connection Kit.
Long cables and multiple connectors lead to a
drop in the supply voltage and to a deterioration
in jitter behavior, particularly in the case of high
sampling rates. Therefore, to the greatest extent
possible, use continuous cable between the mi-
crophone and the Connection Kit, and for longer
distances use AES/EBU cable exclusively (with an
impedance level of 110 ohms).
The cable length is determined by adding the
lengths of the cables at the input and output of the
Connection Kit. Permissible total cable lengths
are dependent upon the word clock rate, and are
specifi ed in the "Technical data" section.
Connect the output of the Connection Kit to the
digital input of the audio equipment (e.g. a sound
card, HD recorder or fl ash recorder).
Connect the Connection Kit to the power supply
(the plug-in power supply provided or the BP-04 -N
Battery Pack).
The use of the Battery Pack limits the available
power to 150 mA. Microphones with a greater
power consumption, such as the D-01, cannot be
powered with the Battery Pack.
When connecting the cables, ensure that the con-
nectors are locked correctly.
6.
Shutdown
Before switching off the microphone or discon-
necting the cables, reduce the volume of con-
nected equipment.
When disconnecting a cable, always pull only on
the connector and not on the cable itself.

Technical data for the AES/EBU
or S/PDIF module
Permissible atmospheric conditions:
Operating temperature: .................. 0 °C to +70 °C
Storage temperature: .................. –20 °C to +70 °C
Relative humidity: ............... 0 % to 99 % at +20 °C
0 % to 95 % at +60 °C
All values are for non-condensing moisture.
Power supply input receptacle
for DC connector: .........................inside Ø 2.1 mm;
outside Ø 5.5 mm
Input voltage: ............................ 12 VDC, stabilized
Power consumption = power consumption of
the connected microphone. In accordance with
AES 42, max. 250 mA. Caution: The BP-04-N Bat-
tery Pack supplies max. 150 mA.
Input: ........................................................... XLR 3 F
Nominal impedance: ...............................110 ohms
Phantom voltage
(DPP for microphone): ........... +8.5 VDC to +9 VDC
Output: ..................................... XLR 3 M (AES/EBU)
or RCA (S/PDIF)
Source impedance: ....................................75 ohms
Max. total cable length (Input)*:
150 m for a word clock frequency of 44.1 / 48 kHz
100 m for a word clock frequency of 88.2 /96 kHz
50 m for a word clock frequency of 176.4 / 192 kHz
For the output, the length of cable available on the equip-
ment should be used; it is preferable not to use additional
cable.
Dimensions: ..................32 mm x 26 mm x 105 mm
Weight: ............................................................. 96 g
* These values represent typical lengths. The lengths which
can in fact be used are strongly dependent upon the type of
cable and the input characteristics of the equipment that is
connected to the output.

Troubleshooting for the Connection Kit & Battery Pack
Problem
Possible causes
No signal
No power supply
Current limiting activated
(BP-04-N)
Solution
Correctly connect power supply
Change batteries (BP-04-N)
Deactivate auto shut-off (BP-04-N)
Use plug-in power supply
Use a microphone with current consumption ≤ 150 mA
(the D-01 cannot be operated with the BP-04-N)
