2.
Safety instructions
The Connection Kit has the intended purpose of
supplying power to digital microphones in accor-
dance with the international standard AES 42, and
of making available the audio data stream from the
microphone in the AES/EBU format or the S/PDIF
format.
•
Connect only digital microphones that comply
with the AES 42 standard to the microphone
input.
•
Repairs and servicing are to be carried out only
by experienced, authorized service personnel.
Unauthorized opening or modifi cation of the
equipment shall void the warranty.
•
Use the equipment only under the conditions
specifi ed in the "Technical data" section.
As a power supply, use only the plug-in pow-
er supply provided or the BP-04-N Battery
Pack which is available as an accessory. The
use of power supplies with unstable voltages
in particular can damage the Connection Kit
and the connected microphone.
•
Allow the equipment to adapt to the ambient
temperature before switching it on.
•
Do not operate the equipment in a damaged
condition.
•
Always lay out cables so that there is no risk of
tripping over them.
•
When disconnecting a cable, always pull only
on the connector and not on the cable itself.
•
Ensure that li quids and electrically conductive
objects unless required for operation are kept
at a safe distance from the equipment and its
connections.
•
Do not use solvents or aggressive cleansers for
cleaning purposes.
•
Dispose of the equipment in accordance with
the regulations applicable to the respective
country.

Brief description
The Connection Kit serves to supply power to
digital Neumann microphones which are in accor-
dance with the AES 42 standard but beyond that
are capable of working with lower phantom volt-
age. The audio microphone signal is made avail-
able at the output of the connection kit in S/PDIF
format or AES/EBU format, depending upon the
product model. Attention: The possibilities for
remote control and synchronization which are
provided by the AES 42 standard cannot be used
with the Connection Kit. That's the purpose of the
Neumann digital microphone interface DMI-2.
