Inserting batteries

It is recommended that you use NiMH batteries to operate the
glue pen.
Do not use lithium-ion batteries. There is a risk of explo-
u
sion.
Unscrew the battery compartment cover (7) and insert the
batteries. When doing so, ensure that the polarity is correct
according to the illustration on the inside of the battery com-
partment.
If the light-up ring (6) flashes quickly, the batteries are weak.
Charge the batteries.
Always replace all the batteries at the same time. Only use bat-
teries from the same manufacturer and which have the same
capacity.
Take the batteries out of the glue pen when you are not
u
using it for a prolonged period of time. The batteries can
corrode and self-discharge during prolonged storage.
Operation
Start-up
Switching on/off
To switch on the glue pen, press the on/off button (8) until
the light-up ring (6) begins to flash.
The light-up ring (6) will flash slowly during the heating pro-
cess. When it is continuously lit up, the glue pen is ready to
use.
To switch off the glue pen, press and hold the on/off button
(8) until the light-up ring goes out.
Note: The glue pen will switch itself off automatically after a
few minutes to save energy.
Place the glue pen down in a safe place after use and let
u
it cool down completely before packing it away. The hot
nozzle can cause damage.

Practical advice

Keep people and animals away from the hot adhesive
u
and the nozzle tip. Adhesive and nozzle tip will heat up to
150 °C, posing a risk of burns. If hot adhesive comes into
contact with skin, immediately hold the affected area under
a stream of cold water for several minutes. Do not try to re-
move the hot adhesive from the skin.
Only use adhesives that have been recommended by the man-
ufacturer of the glue pen.
Only use low-temperature glue sticks (with melting points of
between 110 and 150 °C). Do not use glue sticks intended for
high gluing temperatures (170–200 °C).
Adhesive bonds can become unstuck when they are affected
by moisture.
Preparing for gluing
The bonding locations must be clean, dry and free from
grease.
The materials to be glued together and the work surface must
not be easily ignited or flammable.
Test whether heat-sensitive materials are suitable beforehand
on a sample workpiece.
