To switch off the sawdust blower
device: When working in metal and with
a dust extraction system connected,
push the switch (9) towards the saw
blade.
Start-up
Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the
u
power source must match the voltage specified on the
rating plate of the power tool. Power tools marked
with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
Products that are only sold in AUS and NZ: Use a resid-
u
ual current device (RCD) with a nominal residual current
of 30 mA or less.
Switching on the LED worklight
The worklight (14) improves visibility in the immediate work
area. You can achieve particularly good sawing results by us-
ing the worklight together with Cut Control.
Switch on the worklight (14) by lightly pressing the on/off
switch (3). If you press down harder on the on/off switch,
the power tool will switch on and the worklight will remain il-
luminated.
Do not look directly into the worklight; it can blind
u
you.

Switching on/off

Make sure that you are able to press the On/Off switch
u
without releasing the handle.
To switch on the power tool, press the on/off switch (3).
To lock the on/off switch (3), keep it pressed down and
push the locking mechanism (1) to the right or left.
To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (3).
If the on/off switch (3) is locked, press the switch first and
then release it.
Controlling/preselecting the stroke rate
You can variably adjust the stroke rate of the power tool
when it is on by pressing in the on/off switch (3) to varying
extents.
With the on/off switch (3) locked, the power tool works with
the preselected stroke rate.
You can also preselect the stroke rate and change it during
operation using the stroke rate preselection thumbwheel
(2).
1–2: Low stroke rate
3–4: Medium stroke rate
5–6: High stroke rate
The required stroke rate is dependent on the material and
the work conditions and can be determined using practical
tests.
It is recommended that you reduce the stroke rate when
placing the saw blade on the workpiece and when sawing
plastic and aluminium.
During prolonged periods of use at a low stroke rate, the
power tool may heat up significantly. Remove the saw blade
1 609 92A 4A0 | (13.09.2018)
and let the power tool run at the maximum stroke rate for
around three minutes to cool down.

Practical advice

Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
u
work on the power tool.
Switch the power tool off immediately if the saw blade
u
becomes blocked.
When machining small or thin workpieces, always use
u
a stable base or sawing station (Bosch PLS 300).
Saw with moderate pressure in order to achieve optimal and
precise cutting results.
When making long, straight cuts in thick wood (>40 mm),
the cutting line may not be entirely precise. In this case, for
precise cuts, it is recommended that you use a Bosch circu-
lar saw.
Plunge cutting (see figure J)
Plunge cuts may only be applied to soft materials,
u
such as wood, gypsum board, etc.
For plunge cutting, use only short saw blades. Plunge cutting
is possible only with a mitre angle of 0°.
Place the power tool so that the front edge of the base plate
(7) rests on the workpiece, without the saw blade (19)
touching the workpiece, and switch it on. On power tools
with stroke rate control, select the maximum stroke rate.
Press the power tool firmly against the workpiece and allow
the saw blade to plunge slowly into the workpiece.
As soon as the base plate (7) rests fully on the workpiece,
continue sawing along the required cutting line.
Parallel guide with circle cutter (accessory)
When working with the parallel guide with circle cutter (26)
(accessory), the workpiece must be no more than 30 mm
thick.
Remove the base for Cut Control (13) from the base plate
(7). To do this, push the base together gently and remove it
from the guide (23).
PST 1000 PEL: When using the glide shoe (11), the viewing
window for Cut Control (12) can be attached at the front of
the glide shoe. This makes it easier to accurately adjust to
the required cutting line, particularly for mitre cuts (see "Cut
Control for mitre cuts (PST 1000 PEL)", page 19).
Parallel cuts (see figure K): Loosen the locking screw (27)
and slide the scale on the parallel guide through the guide
(23) in the base plate. Adjust the desired cutting width as a
scale value on the inside edge of the base plate. Retighten
the locking screw (27).
Circular cuts (see figure L): Drill a hole large enough to push
the saw blade through on the cutting line within the circle to
be cut. Machine the drill hole with a router or file so that the
saw blade can lie flush with the cutting line.
Position the locking screw (27) on the other side of the par-
allel guide. Slide the scale on the parallel guide through the
guide (23) into the base plate. Drill a hole in the workpiece
in the middle of the section to be cut out. Insert the centring
tip (28) through the inner opening of the parallel guide and
