Precautions
The appliance is to be connected only to
an alternating current supply. The mains
supply voltage must correspond with that
shown on the type label on the appliance.
Always lift the glass jug by the handle
only and never by the anti-drip ring.
The glass jug is not suitable for use in
microwaves, above open fire or on stove
plates.
Do not refill the appliance whilst it is still
hot; it takes about ten minutes to cool
down.
Do not pour hot water or other liquids
into the water reservoir.
Do not stand the appliance on hot
surfaces (such as the top of a stove) or
stand it or use it in the vicinity of a naked
gas flame.
If any fault is noticed during use and
before cleaning or maintenance operation,
the mains plug must be pulled out.
Do not remove the plug from the socket
by pulling on the mains flex.
Do not let the mains flex hang over
corners or edges.
Ensure that neither the mains flex nor
you yourself touch any hot part of the
appliance.
Do not put the appliance into water.
Keep the appliance away from children
and do not allow the mains flex to hang
down.
Do not operate the appliance when it or
the mains flex is damaged in any way.
Pay attention to the instructions for the
removal of lime scale.
If the mains flex to the appliance
becomes damaged, it MUST be repaired
only by the KRUPS After-Sales Service, or
by a similarly qualified person, to avoid
personal danger.

Operation

Before preparing coffee for the first time,
carry out 1 or 2 runs-through without any
coffee and then wash out the glass jug and
the filter insert with hot water.
Open the hinged lid (1).
Pour in the required amount of water, but
do not exceed the 10 cup mark on the
glass jug (2).
The divisions on the glass jug and on the
water level indicator represent the
amount of clear water (3).
The eventual amount of coffee will be less,
since the coffee meal absorbs a little water.
Excess water cannot be poured out of the
appliance. Where necessary, carry out a run-
through without coffee meal.
Close the lid.
Press the filter opener and swing out the
filter (4).
Insert a 4 (1x4) filter bag with the rough
edges folded over and then press it in
lightly with the hand (5).
Put in the coffee meal (6).
The quantity of coffee meal can be
determined with a coffee measure. For a
medium strong coffee, use one measuring
spoon of coffee meal (about 6-7 grams) per
cup.
The quantity can be varied to suit individual
tastes.
Swing in the swivel filter until it
registers (7).
Replace the glass jug together with its lid.
Switch on the appliance by means of the
ON/OFF switch (8), whereby the red
control lamp will light up to show that the
appliance is in operation.
The appliance is furnished with an aroma
booster for 1-3 cups.
To make the optimum use of the coffee
meal for 1-3 cups, the brewing time can
be lengthend by switching on the aroma
booster, whereby the yellow control lamp
will light up (9).
