Before connecting devices to the RS232 printer port and PS/2
mouse port, the USB adapter should be disconnected from the PC
and from the mains voltage!
9. Troubleshooting

Problem

• Disconnect the USB adapter from the PC and from the
power supply unit. First connect the USB adapter to a mains
outlet via the power supply unit and then connect it to the PC
(or try vice versa: Connect the USB adapter first to the PC
and then the USB adapter to a mains outlet via the power
supply unit).
It may take 10-20 sec. before the USB adapter is detected; in
some cases you must first click "Refresh" in the Device
Manager.

• Some drivers address the interface directly, e.g. a parallel

port scanner. Its driver scans the chip set directly to

This will, of course, not work via the USB port.
ZIP drives or other drives connected to the parallel port do
not work correctly at the USB adapter.
Further problems may occur with printers whose drivers e.g.
scan the ink level via the chip set of the parallel port.
The reason for the above mentioned problems is that the
parallel port was originally intended for transmitting data to
the printer – and not to read data.
• The same applies to PS/2 mice or PS/2 keyboards with spe-
cial features being available via the driver (e.g. mouse with

Il est possible de brancher ici une souris conventionnelle avec fiche PS/2. Veuillez
prendre en compte que certains pilotes souris (livrés avec votre souris) ne recon-
naîtront vraisemblablement pas la souris connectée ici, ne supportant qu'une sou-
ris connectée à un port PS/2 (IRQ12).
Il est donc possible que la même souris fonctionne parfaitement quand elle est
connectée au port PS/2 de la carte mère (ou du Notebook), mais qu'elle pose des
problèmes quand elle est connectée au port PS/2 du commutateur USB.
g)Port clavier PS/2, mini DIN (6)
Il est possible de brancher ici un clavier conventionnel avec fiche PS/2 (pour un
clavier à fiche DIN 5 broches, prendre un adaptateur). Veuillez prendre en compte
que certains pilotes (livrés avec votre clavier, par ex. pour un clavier à touches
multimédia) ne reconnaîtront éventuellement pas le clavier connecté ici, ne sup-
portant que les claviers connectés au port PS/2 de la carte mère.
Il n'est donc pas possible de faire fonctionner de tels pilotes de claviers

Le hub USB met 4 ports à disposition permettant de brancher 4 autres appareils
USB.
i) LED
Les LED du commutateur USB servent à contrôler l'alimentation en courant
(POWER), les 4 ports USB du Hub USB, l'indication des 10/100Mbps et le câblage
correct du réseau (LINK).
• Power-LED
Indication de l'alimentation en courant par le transformateur fourni.
• USB-LED
1 LED par port USB du Hub USB
• 10/100-LED
La LED s'allume pour le taux de transmission 100Mbps
• LINK-LED
La LED s'allume quand le câblage de réseau ordinateurs est correct et clignote
quand la transmission de données est en cours.
6. Installation du logiciel
Windows 98/98SE ou Windows ME au moins sont nécessaires au fonctionnement. Il
existe bien une version Windows 95 de support de USB (marquée sur le CD « ...
avec support de USB), mais elle n'est normalement pas capable de commander cor-
rectement le commutateur USB.
