Fitting the Batteries

Only battery-powered operation of the device is permissible.
Slide battery compartment cover (5) from the device.
Insert two mignon batteries. The positive terminal of the batte-
ries must point towards the gas sensor (2). Wherever possible,
use alkaline batteries because they have a longer service life.
Close the battery compartment cover
In order to prevent it being damaged by leaking batteries, remove
the batteries from the device if you do not intend to use it for a re-
latively long period of time. It is advisable to remove discharged
batteries immediately for the same reason.
Environmental Warning!
The end user is legally obliged (Ordinance Concer-
ning Discharged Batteries) to return all used batte-
ries and storage batteries (from button cells
through to lead-acid batteries); disposal in dome-
stic refuse is prohibited.
You can return discharged batteries and storage
batteries free of charge to our branches or to Head
Office in Hirschau as well as to local authority recy-
cling plants who are obliged to accept them.
Make your contribution towards environmental pro-
tection!

Initial Use and Operation

It is crucial to read these Operating Instructions
and Safety Instructions carefully and completely be-
fore use in order to ensure proper initial use.
Remove protective cover (1).
Switch the Gas Detector on by pressing on/off button (4).
The device emits a continuous high-pitched tone for 2-4 se-
conds. LED display (3) is briefly lit red, then green.
If there is no audible tone or if the tone fails to stop after
4 seconds, replace the batteries.
Once the audible tone has stopped, hold the gas sensor (2) in
the vicinity of the object to be examined in order to detect pos-
sible escaping gas.
If the Gas Detector detects escaping gas, it indicates this by
the fact that the LED display (3) lights up red. An audible tone
is also emitted. The device turns off the alarm as soon as the
gas concentration becomes too low or gas stops escaping.
When making measurements, remember that gases behave diffe-
rently, liquid gas, for example, is heavier than air and sinks towards
the floor - the highest gas concentration is therefore found near the
floor. Ask your gas supplier/expert gas fitter for information.
