Getting Started
• Remove the cover on the rear side.
To do so, shift the fastening slide to the left
position (see arrow on the image) and then
lift up the cover as shown in the image at
right .
Proceed in the opposite manner when reas-
sembling (lower the cover, then close it and
shift the fastening slide to the right position).
• Open the rubber cover for the slot (13) of the
SD/SDHC memory card and insert the included SDHC memory card in the correct position
(the label of the memory card faces the monitor). Push the memory card inside until it clicks
into place.
• Then close the rubber cover carefully.
• Open the battery compartment (8) by pushing its cover upwards. Insert four AA/Mignon
batteries with correct polarity (observe plus/+ and minus/-, see labels on the batteries and
the battery compartment).
The textile strip in the battery compartment must lie under the batteries and will later help in
removing the batteries from the battery compartment easily.
Close the battery compartment again by putting on the battery compartment cover and
pushing it on the edge until it snaps into place.
When using rechargeable batteries, expect a shorter running time due to the lower
operating voltage (normal battery = 1.5 V/cell, rechargeable battery = 1.2 V/cell).
Rechargeable batteries are more temperature sensitive than normal batteries. At
low temperatures, rechargeable batteries have a very short operating time.
However if you set a very short interval (see setup menu, "Time lapse" function), the
batteries may become fl at within a few days! In this case, the rechargeable batteries
are the better choice.
