Game animal repeller
Version 08/06
Item No. 62 03 62
Prescribed use
The products activates a built-in FM radio and an LED light via a PIR movement sensor. The
period during which the radio and the light remain switched on is adjustable; the volume of the
radio is adjustable also.
The unusual noise and the light drive away game animals. The selection of a radio signal
instead of e.g. a fixed preset signal tone makes it difficult for game animals to get used to the
noise since with each activation, via the PIR movement sensor, the built-in loudspeaker
transmits different noises (music, speech).
The product is suitable for use outdoors. The product corresponds to the valid national and
European regulations.

General instructions relevant to batteries and accumulators
• Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries out of reach of children.
• Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lie around openly. There is a risk of batteries
being swallowed by children or pets. In such a case, seek immediate medical care.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries might cause acid burns when getting
into contact with skin. Therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Batteries/ rechargeable batteries must never be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into
fire. They might explode!
• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. Risk of explosion! Only charge rechargeable
batteries which are intended for this purpose; use suitable rechargeable battery chargers.
• Please observe correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting batteries/rechargeable
batteries.
• Do not mix full batteries or rechargeable batteries with half-full ones
• Never mix batteries and storage batteries. Either use batteries or rechargeable batteries.
• Using rechargeable batteries instead of a batteries is possible. However, due to the lower
voltage (rechargeable batteries = 1.2V, batteries = 1.5V) and the lower capacity of
rechargeable batteries, the operating time is decreased. Furthermore, rechargeable batter-
ies are more sensitive in lower temperatures, which further decreases the operating time.
If your want to use batteries, we recommend the use of high-quality alkaline batteries.
• Remove the batteries from the product if you do not use the latter for a longer period of time.
Otherwise, the batteries can leak and damage the product.
• Check the function of the product regularly in order to determine whether the batteries,
rechargeable batteries are used.
Operating elements

3
1 LED light
2 Loudspeaker
3 PIR movement sensor
The function of the PIR movement sensor is based on the recognition of a quick movement
of heat in the detection zone, for example, in case of an animal passing by.
4 Rotary switch for adjusting the duration of activation of the radio and the LED light
Set the time during which the game repeller remains switched on when the PIR movement
sensor has released. One rotation towards the right increases the duration (max. approx.
7 min), a rotation towards the left decreases the duration (min. approx. 15 seconds).
5 Rotary switch for adjusting the sensitivity
This switch sets the heat difference at which the game repeller activates the radio/light.
6 On/off switch with volume regulator
Move the wheel over the click stop to switch the game repeller on and to set the volume.
7 Key for resetting the channel search
If the search run does not find a transmitter any more, actuate this key in order to start over
the frequency search.
8 Key for starting the channel search
Actuate this key briefly to search for the next strong FM station. The search run stops
automatically. To continue the search run, simply press the key again. Select a radio station
that is as strong as possible with good reception.
9 Battery compartment for three batteries type Mono/D
Insert the batteries observing the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-). Take note of the
corresponding figure in the battery compartment.
Inserting/Replacing the Batteries
Unscrew the big retaining screw of the battery compartment at the rear side, and remove the
cover of the battery compartment.
Insert three batteries type "Mono" with correct polarity (observe plus/+ and minus/-).
The battery compartment can remain open for function tests and for settings.
However, if you wish to test the latter at its future installation location, ensure that
no moisture gets into the device,
Close the battery compartment again.
It is necessary to replace the batteries if e.g. the LED flashes very faintly when activated or if
the radio does not switch on any more.
Dispose of the batteries with respect to environmental protection; see chapter "disposal".
Settings
For a first function test, you should minimize the duration of activation (rotary switch "4"). The
sensitivity setting (rotary switch "5") should be somehow in center position.
Switch on the radio via the vertical rotary switch ("6"). The latter sets the volume as well.
Start the search run of the FM radio (key "8"). The search run stops automatically at the
following stronger transmitter. Press the key again in order to continue the search run. If
necessary, reset the search run (key "7").
Installation
The product is designed for operation outdoors. However, install it in such a way that the PIR

points out downward and the lamp upward.
With another arrangement, the detection via the PIR movement sensor does not
function correctly.

The support plate can be fixed with screws ("A"). Alternatively, you can use e.g. a cable
fastener, a wire or similar in order not to injure the tree. Fit the game repeller from the top ("B")
in the support plate, the inclination is adjustable in various stop levels ("C).
The range of the PIR movement sensor is about 8m (25ft) with a detection angle of 110°.
Branches or similar should not be present in this range in order to guarantee a good detection.
Do not point the PIR movement sensor towards sunlit areas in order to prevent triggering
mistakes (reduced battery life).
The battery compartment can remain open for the first function test in order to
effect further settings.
However, make sure that no moisture gets into the device (do not carry out the
installation/settings when it is raining etc).
When selecting a location for installation, think of a position that is vandal and
thief proof, for example higher up on a tree.
Close the battery compartment.
Operation
Depending on the regulated sensitivity, the PIR movement sensor activates the integrated
radio and the LED light. When the pre-set time duration expires, the radio and the LED light
switch off.
The function of the PIR movement sensor is based on the recognition of a quick change of heat
in the detection zone, for example, in case of an animal passing by.
The animal must have a certain minimum size. This is particularly valid if the game repeller is
installed e.g. on a tree at a height of 3m.
With a very sensitive setting, a detection is indeed possible; however, "false
alarms" are frequent e.g. due to solar radiation or the movement of sunlit
branches etc. This reduces the life span of the batteries.
Check the function of the product regularly. Clean the cover on the LED light occasionally and
the PIR sensor on the casing; to that effect, use a soft, clean cloth slightly dampened with water.
Do not rub the lamp or the PIR cover too hard in order to avoid scratches.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable and must not be disposed of in the domestic
waste.
At the end of its serviceable life, dispose of the product according to the relevant
statutory requirements.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
The user is legally obliged (battery regulation) to return used batteries and storage batteries.
Do not dispose of used batteries via the household rubbish.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing harmful substances are marked with
the following symbols which point out that they are not allowed to be disposed of
in the domestic refuse. The markings for hazardous heavy metals are:
Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (name on battery/rechargeable battery,
e.g. under the rubbish bin icons on the left).
You can return your exhausted batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge to
any authorized disposal station in your area, in our stores or in any other store
where batteries/rechargeable batteries are sold.
Thus, you comply with the legal obligations and make your contribution to environmental
protection.
Tips and Notes
• When selecting the place of installation, think of a vandal and thief proof position.
• If the device should be installed in the yard, think also of your neighbors. Select an
appropriate volume; do not orientate the product towards areas that are used by people or
vehicles.
• Mount and use the product in such a way that the PIR movement sensor points downward
(see figure under "Installation").
• When installing the product on a tree, think of the growth of leaves (detection area could be
covered).
The growth of the tree could loosen the mounting parts of the game repeller.
• Setting the sensitivity is not so simple, as the user cannot bring (intentionally) an animal of
the desired size in the detection area, in order to check the triggering of the mechanism.
• Although the functioning principal with the radio always transmits different noises (music,
speech), it is possible that the animals get used to these noises. For this reason, it is
advisable to change the place of installation of the game repeller occasionally.
A radio station with a lot of "speeches" instead of music is preferred.
• Check the function of the product regularly and check the state of the batteries.
• Although the product is suitable for use outdoors, protect it from direct solar radiation and
direct rain.
Solar radiation reduces the detection power of the PIR movement sensor; the same is valid
in case of rain (moisture on the lens prevents heat recognition).
