g Installation hints
1. Hardware installation
a) Switch on your computer and connect the USB plug
to a free USB port on your computer.
b) Windows detects the mouse and installs it
for use with the operating system.
c) To be able to enjoy the full range of functions your
cordless mouse offers, you must install the
provided software (for more information,
see point 5).
2. DPI/mode button
Press the DPI/mode button (fi g. 1) briefl y to switch the
sensitivity between 800 and 1600 dpi (M580: between 500
and 1000 dpi). The higher the dpi number, the more
precise the scanning and the more quickly the cursor
moves in response to the same mouse movements.
If you hold down this button for at least 3 seconds, you
switch from standard mode to media mode. To return to
standard mode, hold down the DIP/mode button once
again for at least 3 seconds.
3. Functions of the additional buttons on the side
3.1 The following button functions are available in stan-
dard mode (fi g. 1):

4. 4-way scroll wheel
The 4-way scroll wheel provides especially comfortable
navigation during vertical and horizontal scrolling. Please
note that scrolling is only possible if there is a vertical or
horizontal scroll bar.
In addition, the 4-way scroll wheel can be used as a
button that you can click.
5. Installing the software
The software supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7.
Uninstall any mouse software already installed.

a) Insert the enclosed CD into your CD-ROM or
DPI/Mode
DVD-ROM drive. Wait a few moments, and the
switch
installation process starts automatically. If it does
not, manually run the "autorun.exe" fi le on the
CD-ROM by double-clicking it.
b) Once the software has been successfully installed,
you can double-click the mouse symbol
in the task bar to adjust the wheel and button settings
fi g. 1
according to your personal needs.
Note:
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7,
installation is interrupted by the User Access Control
message "An unidentifi ed program wants to access
your computer". Click "Allow" to proceed with the
installation.
