• Carefully clean the battery terminals. Make sure that no residues come into skin or eye contact.
• Plug the suitable connection adapter onto the charging cable of the battery charger.
• Connect the battery charger to the battery with the correct polarity. If the polarity is not correct, LED 1 lights up.
• When the polarity is correct, connect the battery charger to the power supply (220-240 V~/50/60 Hz).
Please note that the battery charger starts in the mode (summer mode or winter mode) which was active for the
last charging process.
• Now you can select a function using the mode button (13). See the next chapter for a description of the individual

operating modes.

If you want to charge a vehicle battery without disconnecting it (see safety instructions at the beginning
of this section), you have to find out which terminal of the battery is connected to the vehicle body (the
negative terminal in most vehicles) before connecting the battery charger.
Select a bare piece of metal (no painted metal). Moreover, it has to be as far away as possible from the
battery or fuel lines.
Negative terminal of the battery is connected to the body:
First connect the red clamp of the battery charger to the positive terminal (+) of the battery. Then
connect the black clamp to a bare piece of metal of the engine block.
Positive terminal of the battery is connected to the body:
First connect the black clamp of the battery charger to the negative terminal (-) of the battery. Then
connect the red clamp to a bare piece of metal of the engine block.
• After the charging process, disconnect the battery charger from the mains supply.
• First remove the clamp from the negative terminal and then from the positive terminal.
OPERATING MODES
Mode 1: Summer mode (14.4 V)
Summer mode is designed to charge batteries from 14 Ah upwards at an ambient temperature above 10 °C.
The charging current is 7 A +/- 10 %, the charge end voltage is 14.4 V +/- 0.25 V.
When the charge end voltage is reached, the charger switches to trickle charge.
To select this mode, press the MODE button (13) until LED 12 lights up.
Mode 2: Winter mode (14.7 V)
Winter mode is designed to charge batteries from 14 Ah upwards at an ambient temperature below 10 °C.
The charging current is 7 A +/- 10 %, the charge end voltage is 14.7 V +/- 0.25 V.
When the charge end voltage is reached, the charger switches to trickle charge.
To select this mode, press the MODE button (13) until LED 11 lights up.
You can also use this mode with batteries specified by the manufacturer to be suitable for a higher charge end
voltage. Please observe the charging instructions of the battery manufacturer.
Mode 3: For calcium batteries
This mode is suitable for calcium batteries from 25 Ah upwards.
Only use this mode to charge calcium batteries! Please note that calcium mode can only be
selected in stand-by mode.
The charging current is 5 A +/- 10 % until 14.7 V +/- 0.25 V is reached. Then the charging current is switched off for 30
min. After that time, the charger continues to charge with a charging current of 1.5 A until the battery voltage reaches
16.5 V +/- 0.35 V.
When the charge end voltage is reached, the charger switches to trickle charge.
First select power/stand-by mode by pressing the MODE button (13) until LED 9 lights up. Then hold down the MODE
button (13) for 3 seconds until LED 10 lights up permanently.
Mode 4: Maintenance/power adapter mode
This mode is suitable to maintain batteries above 14 Ah. In this mode, the charger can also be used as a 13.6 V/5.0 A
power adapter.
Maintenance program:
Please note that the maintenance program can only be selected in stand-by mode.
The maintenance program is designed to maintain any 12-V lead-acid batteries (vented batteries, gel, AGM).
The battery charger sends pulses up to 5 A +/- 10 % to the battery until a voltage of 13.6 V +/- 0.25 V is reached. As the
battery voltage increases, the charger reduces the charging current accordingly.
Press the MODE button (13) until LED 8 lights up.
Power adapter mode:
The charger can also be used as a power adapter (13.6 V, max. 5 A)
It is only permissible to connect loads with a maximum power consumption of 5.0 A.
Do not power any products that require a stabilised operating voltage of 12 V= (e.g. computers).
The device is protected against short-circuits electronically. Make sure that the connection is correct anyway.
This mode can only be connected of no battery is connected.
To activate power adapter mode, hold down the MODE button (13) for 3 seconds.
LED 6 lights up. If the electronic circuit of the charger is activated automatically, LED 8 lights up additionally. The
charger is now ready to be used as a power adapter.
Mode 5: Boost mode
This mode is mainly used to regenerate deep-discharged or sulphated batteries from 14 Ah upwards.
At a battery voltage of 4.5 V - 10.5 V, the charger pulse-charges the battery. LED 7 flashes. Maximum pulse-charging
time is 7 hours.
When the battery voltage reaches 10.5 V, the charger switches to 16-V boost mode. LED 7 flashes. Boost mode is
finished after 3.5 hours.
Then the charger automatically switches to trickle charge at 60 mA. If the battery voltage falls below 12.7 V, the charger
is activated again. After a maximum of 4 hours or as soon as the battery is ready for charging, LED 7 goes out. LED 12
for normal charging lights up.
If a battery with a voltage between 4.5 V - 10.5 V is connected, the battery charger detects the battery voltage and
automatically switches to pulse charge as described above until the battery voltage reaches 10.5 V +/- 0.25 V. Then the
charger switches to the normal charging process.
If the voltage is not reached within 6 hours, the charger switches itself off.
To select boost mode, press the MODE button (13) until LED 7 starts flashing.
CHARGING CURVES

Charging curve of calcium batteries:
CLEANING
Disconnect the battery charger from the battery and the mains voltage before cleaning it. Clean the outside of the
product with a clean, dry, and soft cloth.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents to avoid discolouration.
DISPOSAL
Product
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations.
Lead-acid batteries
The end user is legally obliged (battery regulation) to return used batteries. Disposal in the household
waste is prohibited!
Batteries containing lead are marked with „Pb" written next to the trashcan symbol. This indicates
disposal in the household waste is prohibited.
Pb
You can return used lead-acid batteries free of charge at the official collection points of your community,
in our stores, or wherever lead-acid batteries are sold!
You thus fulfil your legal obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
