7.1.1 Signal setting
• The generator is able to provide the three standard basic curve shapes SINE, RECTANGLE and TRI-
ANGLE. The shape of these basic curves can be changed via the symmetry function „SYM" (adjuster
button 14 pulled).
• To set the initial curve shape, press one of the buttons in the field "FUNCTION" (10).
• Connect a screened 50 Ohm BNC cable to the BNC socket "OUTPUT" (7).
• Set the required amplitude with the adjuster knob "AMPL" (9).
The following illustration shows the basic curves of the generator with the phase relations.

7.1.2 Setting the DC offset
• Via the adjuster knob "DC OFFSET" (11), you can change the direct voltage current of the output sig-
nal in a range from +/- 5 V on 50 Ohm (or +/- 10 V on the off-load output). To set the offset, pull out the
adjuster knob. A turn to the right (+) means a positive shift of the signal course, a turn to the left (-) a
negative shift. If the adjuster knob is pressed, the output voltage has no DC voltage share.
By shifting the "DC OFFSET" upward (positive) or downward (negative) within the voltage
limits (+/- 5 V on 50 Ohm or ± 10 V on the off-load output), there is no risk that the amplitudes
are cut off and the signal is distorted. However, if a high amplitude and a large offset setting
coincide, there may be distortions (clipping) of the output signal. You can easily check this
with the help of an oscilloscope. To prevent this problem, reduce the amplitude or the DC off-
set.
