If no lower limit was set, the HM8118 will use the
negative of the upper limit for the lower limit.
The BLIL? requests the lower limit (i = 1) of BIN j.
BNOM i,(?) {x} The BNOM commands set the nominal value of
BIN i to the value x. The value i may be any between
0 to 8 (BIN 8 is the QDR BIN for failures). If no
nominal value was set for a BIN, the HM8118 will
take the nominal value of the next lower BIN, if it
is not equal to zero. Several BINs may have the
same nominal value even if no value was entered
for each BIN. The activated BIN with the lowest
number requires that a nominal value is set. BIN
0 must always be activated, otherwise the binning
will not function.
BNOM? requests the nominal value of BIN i.

Setup and Control Commands
*IDN?
The *IDN? common query returns the HM8118's
device configuration. This string has the format:
„HAMEG Instruments, HM8118 SSSSSVVV".
Where „SSSSS" is the five digit serial number of
the unit and „VVV" is the 3 digit firmware version
number.
*OPC ?
The general request *OPC (operation complete)
is used in order to know when a measurement is
completed. The HM 8118 will answer with a „1"
when all results are ready for fetching. With the
command STRT; *OPC? a measurement cycle will
be started, if a „1" is received, the cycle has ended.
The control program knows by the receipt of the
„1" that a measuremnent cycle was completed and
that the bridge is ready for a new cycle.
*RCL i
The *RCL command recalls stored measurement
parameters i and establishes them as actual set-
tings. Memory locations 0 to 9 may be selected. If
the stored parameters are incomplete or if there
was nothing stored this command will generate an
error message. The command *RCL 9 resets to the
factory settings.
*RST
The *RST command resets all measurement pa-
rameters to the factory settings (Reset).
*SAV i
The *SAV command stores the actual measure-
ment parameters in memory location i.
*WAI
The general command *WAI is a synchronization
command, which stops the execution of any other
command until all current measurements are
completed. E.g. the commands STRT; *WAI;XALL?
would start a measurement and prevent the exe-
cution of any other command until the measure-
ment is completed.
The command XALL? will cause the results to be
transmitted.
LOCK 1
Use this command to lock the front panel control.
The lock can be removed by the remote command
„LOCK 0" only.
LOCK 0
Use this command to unlock a previously locked
unit.
