Intended use

The product is intended to charge lead-based rechargeable batteries of the types lead-gel,
lead-acid or lead-fleece with a nominal voltage of 6 V or 12 V and a capacity from 1.2 Ah up to
26 Ah with an automatic charger.
As a special characteristic the charger can also charge 4-cell LiFePO
age 12.8 V) with a capacity of 2 Ah to 15 Ah.
The battery connection is made using a charger cable and two alligator clips.
The charger is powered by mains voltage. Therefore plug the charger into a proper outlet of
the public supply network.

Explanation of symbols

The lightning symbol inside a triangle is used when there is a potential risk of per-
sonal injury, such as electric shock.
An exclamation mark in a triangle indicates important instructions in this operating
manual which absolutely have to be observed.
The arrow symbol is used when specific tips and information on handling are provided.
The product is designed according to protection class II (reinforced or double insula-
tion, protective insulation).
Observe the operating instructions!

Safety instructions

Please read the operating instructions carefully and pay particular attention to
the safety instructions. We do not assume liability for injuries/material damag-
es resulting from failure to observe the safety instructions and the information
in these operating instructions regarding the proper handling of the product.
Furthermore, in such cases, the warranty/guarantee will be null and void.
Dear Customer, the following safety instructions are intended not only for the protec-
tion of your health, but also for the protection of the product.
Therefore, please read the following points very carefully before connecting and
using the product for the first time.
a) General
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not allowed for
safety and approval reasons. Never dismantle the product.
• Maintenance, adjustments or repairs may only be carried out by a specialist/
specialised workshop.
There are no components for you to adjust or maintain within the device.

• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children! The
product may only be set up, used or stored in places that are not accessible to
children. The same applies to rechargeable batteries. Children could short-circuit
the rechargeable battery, which may cause an explosion. Danger to life!
• The construction of the product corresponds to protection-class II (double or re-
inforced insulation). Ensure that the insulation of the housing is neither damaged
nor destroyed.
• The charger is meant to be powered by a mains socket with a supply voltage of
220 - 240 V/AC, 50 Hz. Do not use it at a different voltage.
• The outlet must be located in direct proximity to the device and easily accessible.
• Never pull the charger from the mains socket by pulling on the cable!
• In schools, educational centres, hobby and self-help workshops, the operation of
the product must be supervised by trained employees.
• On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the
industrial workers' society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed.
• Do not leave the packaging materials unattended. It may become a dangerous
plaything for children!
• If in doubt about how to connect the device correctly, or should any questions arise
that are not answered in these operating instructions, please contact our technical
service or another specialist.
b) Operating location
• The product may only be used in dry, enclosed spaces. It may not get wet or
damp; there is a risk of electric shock!
Do not use the charger within a vehicle.
• Keep the charger away from easily flammable materials (e.g. drapes, paper), liquids
(e.g. gasoline) or gases.
• Avoid direct sunlight, strong heat or cold. Keep the charger away from dust and
dirt.
• Do not use in the immediate vicinity of strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields,
transmitter aerials or HF generators. This can impact the electric control system.
• Do not place any containers filled with liquid, e.g. vases or plants, on or next to
the charger.
If these liquids manage to get inside the charger, the charger will be ruined, and
besides this, it also carries the highest risks of fire or explosion.
In this case, immediately switch off at all poles the mains socket that the charger
is connected to (switch off the corresponding circuit breakers or remove the safety
fuse, then switch off the corresponding earth leakage circuit breaker).
Afterwards remove the battery from the charger and unplug the charger from the
mains socket.
Let the battery and the charger dry, then have them checked by a specialist work-
shop or dispose of them in an environmentally compatible manner.
• Make sure that the charger cable is not pinched or damaged by sharp edges. If the
charger cable is damaged, do not use the charger any longer.
• Place the charger cable in such a way that nobody can trip over it.
c) Operation
• Use this charger only for recharging lead-based batteries (nominal voltage 6 V or
12 V) or 4-cell LiFePO
batteries (nominal voltage 12.8 V).
4
Never charge other batteries (e.g., NiMH, NiCd batteries) or non-rechargeable
batteries. There is a great risk of fire or explosion!
• Only connect a single rechargeable battery to the charger.
• Select the appropriate mode for the battery (lead-based battery or LiFePO
tery).
• Maintain enough distance to flammable objects. Allow enough distance between
the charger and the battery (min. 20 cm); do not place battery and charger side
by side.
• As both the charger and the connected battery will heat up during the process of
charging/discharging, it is necessary to ensure sufficient ventilation. Never cover
the charger and/or the connected battery.
• Particularly in lead-based batteries leaking hydrogen may form a so-called deto-
nating gas. In regards to lead-based batteries make sure there is sufficient ventila-
tion; never recharge lead-based batteries inside of cabinets or closed containers.
• Do not operate the product when it is unattended. Although there is a wide range
of comprehensive safety mechanisms on the device, it is impossible to exclude the
possibility of malfunctions or problems occurring while charging a battery.
• When you work with the charger or rechargeable batteries, never wear metallic
or strongly conductive materials, such as jewellery (necklaces, bracelets, rings
or similar objects). A short circuit at the battery or charger poses a danger of fire
and explosion.
