Note: If five Indicator light segments are illuminated,
the output voltage may be more than 5 kV (5,000 V).
If you see only red lights at each pulse and no green
lights, your fence line is very heavily loaded, and you will
need to look for faults on the fence line. See "Frequently
asked questions/Troubleshooting" on page 42.
Battery test setting
When the energiser is connected to a battery and the switch is set to "Battery Test"
the Indicator lights show the charge level of the battery for a period of 30 seconds. The battery
test is only relevant when a lead­acid battery is used.
Lights
While the battery charge level is being displayed, the Indicator lights will also flicker
briefly with each energizer pulse in order to show that the energizer is still functioning.
After 30 seconds, the Indicator lights revert to displaying the energizer output voltage.
When set to Battery Test, the energizer pulses at Slow speed and delivers Full Power at all times.
Battery selection and management
This section refers exclusively to rechargeable, lead­acid batteries, for example car, tractor,
truck, marine or specialist deep­cycle batteries. The size of battery you select will depend on
the model of energiser you have and the pulse speed switch position you use most frequently.
Refer to "Operation" on page 34 for an explanation of the function of the pulse speed switch.
Battery charge level
Excellent battery charge level (90 – 100% / 12.6 – 17.0 V):
• No action required.
Very good battery charge level (70 – 90% / 12.3 – 12.6 V):
• No action required.
Average battery charge level (40 – 70% / 12.0 – 12.3 V):
• Monitor battery charge level.
• Recharge the battery to avoid long­term damage to the battery.
Poor battery charge level (20 – 40% / 11.7 – 12.0 V):
• Monitor battery charge level.
• Recharge the battery to avoid long­term damage to the battery.
Very poor battery charge level (0 – 20% / below 11.7 V):
• Recharge the battery immediately.
