Installation and Certification
Each stove must be connected to the existing house chimney (approved for solid fuel) using a connecting piece. The
connecting piece should be as short as possible, straight, and horizontal or inclined slightly upwards. Connections must
be sealed off.
The necessary height and cross-section must be calculated using a chimney calculation in accordance with DIN EN
13384-1 or DIN EN 13384-2 using the value triplet stated in the appropriate manual.
National and European standards, local and building authority regulations in addition to fire department regulations must
be observed. For this reason you should inform your local heating inspector in advance. You must ensure that the stove
is able to be fed with air at sufficient quantities for combustion. This applies especially to well-sealed windows and doors
in addition to operation of several fireplaces in one room or in one connected airspace.
When installing the stove, all the relevant national and local council regulations must be observed (e.g. heating
regulations).
Stoves with self-closing combustion chamber doors must (except during ignition, when refuelling or removing ash) be
operated with the combustion chamber closed otherwise a hazard to other fireplaces also connected to the chimney will
be caused, and this could lead to discharge of combustion gases.
The floor on which the stove is to be mounted must be even and level. Before setting up, you must ensure that the
supporting construction can carry the weight of the stove. If the load-bearing capacity is not sufficient, suitable measures
(e.g. plates for load distribution, ceiling supports etc.) must be carried out in order to ensure sufficient load-bearing
capacity.
On floors which are not heat-resistant, a stable and fire-proof spark protection floor plate (e.g. tile, natural brick, metal or
glass) must be installed in front of the stove. This plate must extend at least 50cm in front of the stove and at least 30cm
to the side measured from the combustion chamber door These regulations apply to setting up in Germany. Please also
observe any regional specialities.
The chimney fitting (to be ordered from the building contractor or from CERA) should be installed in the chimney by a
professional tradesman.
Please attach the flue pipe to the stove first and calculate the height of the attachment. Caution: the wall fitting must
not protrude into the chimney flue!
Now push the stove to the designated mounting area and align it so that the stove pipe fits into the wall fitting. You can
still align the stove with the help of the adjustable feet.
Before using your stove, your chimney sweep must certify the proper installation of the stove.
Initial operation
The odours which develop during the initial heating (caused by the not yet fully dried enamel and oil or grease
residues) will go away when the stove has burnt 3 - 4 times for a number of hours (air the room well).
Your CERA-stove is coated with a high-quality temperature-resistant enamel which reaches its final hardness
and strength only after the first heating up. For this reason do not put anything on top of the stove and do not
touch the hot surface, as this could damage the enamel (in the case of this, or transport damage, you can
order a can of refinish enamel from the manufacturer).
The stove's surfaces and operating elements can become very hot. Please do not put any heat-sensitive items
(e.g. candles or plastic objects) on the stove and use the heat-resistant glove provided to operate the hot stove.
Never clean or wipe the hot glass panes with a moist cloth. Do not put any cold objects down on the cover.
These could be damaged by the heat.
CERA stoves are designed for the burning of firewood. They are intended for use as additional heating and, just as all
wood-burning stoves, not as the only heat source.
Heating-up
Remove any ash which is present. Now lift up the ash grate (for example using the "cold hand", optional operating tool)
towards the rear, and brush the ashes into the ash pan located below. You can then pull this out to the front through the
bottom operating door. Please make sure the ash is no longer hot and that it contains no embers!
Push the air regulation lever all the way to the right, so that the air supply is completely open.
Place 1 to 2 logs (maximum weight together 2 kg) on the combustion chamber floor, then place kindling material (small
wood pieces) in a sufficient quantity (approx. 0.5 kg) in layers, and then place 1 or 2 stove firelighters on top.
Ignite, then close combustion chamber door.
As soon as the material is burnt up, a further, small amount of fuel can follow.
