CAUTION:
NEVER COMPLETELY CLOSE THE AIR FEED WHILE OPERATING THE STOVE!
DEFLAGRATION CAN OTHERWISE OCCUR WHEN OPENING THE DOOR.
THE HANDLES BECOME HOT, PLEASE WEAR HEAT-PROTECTIVE GLOVES WHEN
OPERATING!
Combustion air feed
Every combustion process requires air. In modern housing, it is possible that too little air is
available. Furthermore cooker extraction hoods and WC ventilators influence the air feed. If
doors and windows are well-sealed it is possible that the fresh air feed is not guaranteed,
which will affect the draught behaviour of the room heater. This can result in undesirable air
underpressure in the residence, which in turn can lead to feeling unwell and impairments to
safety due to the resulting lack of oxygen.
The owner must ensure that there is sufficient combustion air feed. It may be necessary to
provide additional fresh air feed, for example by fitting an air flap in the vicinity of the stove, or
by building in a combustion air pipe to the outside or to a well-ventilated room (with the
exception of boiler rooms).
The air feed openings may never be closed, even partially!!
The free cross-section of the feed air pipes must not be greatly reduced by the use of
a grate or a wind barrier!
Once the feed air connection has been screwed on, a combustion air pipe (ø 100mm) for
feeding combustion air from outside can be connected directly to all CERA stoves from
outside (this is prescribed for houses with ventilation equipment or DIBt requirements!).
Please note that the feed air pipe may not be not longer than 4.5 m and is laid with a
maximum of four 90° elbows. Otherwise a calculation for the combustion air pipe must be
drawn up. Please only use feed air piping made of non-flammable materials. In cases of
stoves with DIBt approval, air pipes which are not permanently connected together are
required.
It may also be necessary to fit a wind cover to the feed air opening.
If cold combustion air is fed in, condensate water may form on the outside of the stove. You
must ensure that the outside air is fed through air ducting which absorbs moisture, or that the
air can warm itself up while travelling through the feed air pipe, or that moisture is extracted
from the air before it reaches the stove.
Your chimney sweep must certify that your stove has been set up correctly, that fire
prevention regulations have been observed and that the chimney is suitable before you
operate your stove. Some German federal states require a certificate of inspection issued by
your master stove specialist.
