Cause
The distance between the filter and
the water level in the aquarium is
too small.
The filter material is clogged.
Air is entering through the water
intake pipe.
The filter material was not cleaned
sufficiently.
The filter material was filled into
nets or similar.
Air is in getting in through a hose
connector.
Air is trapped in the filter.
Foam pre-filter is clogged.
Slow filter flow rate.
The seal rings are not greased
sufficiently.
Uneven inflow of water due to poor
water intake.
The distance between the filter and
the water level in the aquarium is
too small.
Air is trapped in the filter.
The noise of escaping air is heard
at the flow return pipe every 10
seconds.
The start button is pressed.
Solution
Make sure that the upper edge of the motor head is at least
10 cm below the water level.
Clean the filter material. See page 19.
Make sure that the hose from the water intake pipe is below
the water level in the aquarium. If the problem persists,
replace the seal ring on the water intake pipe.
Remove the filter material and clean it. See page 19.
Do not fill the filter material into nets or nylon stockings.
Make sure that the hoses are fitted correctly. See page 16.
Shake the filter gently so that the air escapes.
Clean the foam pre-filter.
Increase filter flow rate by opening the valves.
Apply standard lubricants such as vaseline generously to
all the seal rings.
Pull out the mains plug and put the filter into operation
again. See page 17.
Make sure that the upper edge of the motor head is at least

Shake the filter gently so that the air escapes.
Air bubbles can form from the breathing of bacteria and the
photosynthesis of water plants. Noises occur when air
bubbles escape through the filter. No actions are needed.
Never press the start button when the filter is running. Make
sure that the start button is not depressed by any objects.
