Do not blaze directly into the eyes when using the high brightness levels.
Take special care when using the IR LED. Since the light is invisible, the ad-
verse-effects reflex of the eye (eyelid reflex) does not work. Therefore, when
using the IR light, an eye hazard has to be avoided.
The TILO - 3 ™ is not only a thermal imager but also
a headlight with many different functions.
All functions for controlling the headlight are
achieved by pressing buttons 3 and 4.
There are three different colors (white, red and infra-
red) that can be controlled in brightness. Each color
can also flash normally or in the SOS code.

Turn on / off

To turn on the lamp, press button 4 for at least one
second. The lamp lights up in the last used color.
Change colors
To change the color, press button 4 for at least one
second. Each time the button is pressed, the color
changes between red and white. To change to IR
mode, refer to the next section (IR mode).

IR-Mode

The TILO is equipped with an IR LED (infrared LED).
This works in a wavelength range of 940nm and is
absolutely invisible to the human eye. This is also a
danger, since the light is invisible, the adverse-effects
reflex of the eye (eyelid reflex) does not work. There-
fore, when the IR mode is switched on, care must
be taken that a direct view into the LED is safely
excluded.
The light emitted can only be seen by light amplifiers
of generation 2, 2+ and 4. US-American light
amplifiers of generation 3 are generally not able to
use the IR-LED for illumination.

Turn on and off the IR-Mode
To switch on the IR mode, press the buttons 3 and 4
simultaneously for at least one second.
The IR LED then lights up in the mode in which it
was last called. The IR mode is switched
off in the same way.
IR-Check
Normally the IR mode is only used if a light amplifier
is used at the same time. If this is not available,
the IR status can be checked by pressing button 4
for at least one second. If the IR mode is activated,
pressing button 4 will activate the following:

If IR mode is not activated, pressing button 4 for a
long time switches on the regular light last used.
Troubleshooting
When the light of the TILO can not be switched on,
the reason could be that you have activated the IR
mode by mistake. If you disable it, everything should
work again.

Brightness adjustment

The brightness of the activated color can be adjus-
ted by briefly pressing button 3. With each
actuation the light gets brighter until the boost mode
is reached. Here the brightness of the white LED is
160 lumens. If key 3 is subsequently pressed the
light intensity decreases with each
actuation until the lowest brightness-level is reached.
The boost mode remains on for a maximum of 1
minute. If it is not switched off within this
period, the lamp automatically switches to the next
lower setting. The boostmode does not work when
the thermal camera is being used.

Special functions

(Only available at TILO-3Z+ and TILO-3M)
Screen texts
The currently selected filter (left) and the current zoom
level (right) are displayed at the top of the screen.

Menu

You enter the menu by pressing the buttons 1 and
4 simultaneously (at least one second) and the
normal functions of the buttons are deactivated as
long as you are in the menu. The keys now have the
following functions:

Survey

Button 1 Short = marking / picture down.
Button 2 Short = marking / picture up.
Except for the boost mode, the last selected bright-
ness is saved and is already set the next time the
corresponding color is selected.
Flashing fuction
Each color can also be operated in one of the two
flashing modes. These are activated by pressing
button 3 for at least one second:
– steadylight (standard)
– flashing
– SOS
(lamp flashing in SOS Morse code ... – – – ... )
Button 3 Short = In the collimation menu image to
the right, in menus with character input select right.
Button 4 Short = In the collimation menu, image
to the left, in menus with character input, select to
the left.
Button 1 Long = Confirm selection
Button 2 Long = selection / zoom level change,
collimation menu only.
Button 3 Long = Menu / Exit submenu.
Button 4 Long = Save setting.
Navigating the menu
By briefly pressing buttons 1 and 2, you can navi-
gate up and down in the menu (comparable to the
arrow buttons on the computer).
Pressing button 1 for a long time is comparable with
an „Enter" on the computer.
To confirm a selection or move deeper into the
menu. Pressing button 3 for a long time exits the
respective submenu or the entire menu.
