HINT...
Eventual informations about sampling frequen-
cy contained in the AES/EBU signal will be ig-
nored.
HINT...
With AES/EBU Sync-signal activated, bits 1
and 2 in byte 4 are examined
dio reference signal: grade 1 / grade 2 [AES
11-1990]). The data found are carried to the
professional output word.
SELECTING INTERNAL CLOCK
FREQUENCY
The optional internal oscillator is activated by pus-
hing the INTERN button. Further pushing toggles
oscillator frequency between 44.1 and 48 kHz. The
selected frequency is indicated within the OUT-
PUT-section.
HINT...
When switching to the internal oscillator, fre-
quency will default to the value selected for the
preceding session.
SETTINGS AND DISPLAYS IN THE
"OUTPUT"- SECTION
SAMPLING RATE DISPLAY
Four LEDs inform about the output signal's sam-
pling frequency. The frequency depends on the
sync signal selected.
(see SYNC SOURCE SELECTION).
FORMAT- PUSHBUTTON
Three modes can be selected by the fornat push-
button.
- Professional mode (PRO-LED lit): digital output
word format is set to professional mode, inde-
pendent of input signal mode.
- Consumer mode (CON-LED lit): digital output
word format is set to consumer mode, indepen-
dent of input signal mode.
- Copy mode (no LED lit): digital output word for-
mat is set equal to input word format.
MUTE LED
The MUTE-LED lights up when the outputs are
muted automatically. Common reasons herefore
(digital au-
are:
- weak input signal
- invalid input data
- no sync signal
- sampling-rate outside of 28... 56 kHz range
LOCK AND DELAY TIMES
In order to reliably handle fixed or variable frequen-
cy samples, the built-in DSP AD-1890 offers a
lock-and delay-time optimization feature. Possible
delay times are 0.3 or 3 microseconds, lock times
are either 0.2 or 0.8 microseconds.
The best results with fixed frequencies are usually
achieved with short delay and long lock time. For
variable frequencies, this rule should be inverted.
Delay and lock time can be chosen at the corre-
sponding DIP switch on the rear panel.
HINT...
Delay and lock time setting can only be altered
if the AUTO-switch is in OFF-position!
AUTO MODE
In order to keep operation easy and to achieve op-
timum results, the SRC F24 is equipped with an
(overridable) automatic delay and lock time setting
function:
When newly selecting a digital input or sync- sour-
ce, the current sampling frequency is detected. If
both signals show fixed 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz, delay
time is set to 'short' and lock time is set to 'long'.
If none of the above signals shows one of the fixed
frequencies, delay time is set to 'long' and lock ti-
me is set to 'short'.
HINT...
Time setting is examined and altered only when
switching to a different input or sync- source. If
frequency changes later on, the setting chosen
first will remain.
