Connecting MP3 Player with the PC

Connect the MP3 Player »
the PC using the accompanying serial cable.
Note:
Never remove MultiMediaCards during downloading. At the
very worst, this can result in the MultiMediaCard becoming
unusable!

Notes regarding copyright
Intellectual property, which includes music, is subject to world-wide
copyright protection.
In most countries it is permitted to make a copy of sound recordings
(e.g., CDs, pre-recorded MCs) that have been acquired legally or of
music data (e.g. from the Internet) for one's own use.
The following applies in all cases:
It is not permitted to offer these copies commercially or to pass
them on to third parties.
Beware when downloading MP3 files from the Internet:
Take care to ensure that the files are licensed properly, i.e. that
the party offering them also possesses the rights to the titles being
offered.
Notes regarding software
The software programmes and the operating instructions may not
be transmitted, altered or otherwise reproduced, neither in their
entirety nor partially, in any form or using any means; furthermore,
they may not be translated into another language, whether natural
or machine.
An exception is made for the licensee, who may create a safety

Glossary
Bit rate
data transfer rate, which is required for a
continuous music playback. This is set during
the transformation of music files into the MP3
format. The higher the bit rate, the better the
quality – but also the larger the file.
MP3
file format for music, which was compacted
according to the MPEG2 Layer 3 standard
(or earlier versions of the MPEG standard).

MPEG
Motion Picture Experts Group
MultiMediaCard
memory card with Flash Memory, which can
be re-recorded over 100,000 times.

Parallel interface
standard connection for PCs. It is often used
for connecting printers.
ROS Card
(Record on Silicon, e.g. recording on sili-
con/semi-conductor) ROM (= Read Only
Memory) card. Cannot be re-recorded or
deleted and is supplied prerecorded.
Serial interface
standard connection for PCs.
