Product description

The EKOM 11 Transmitter enables glass break sensors, release detectors (magnetic contacts)
and alarm wire loops to be connected to a security system without contact. The two-part
arrangement comprises a transmitter unit and a receiver unit. The transmitter is connected to
the control panel via a 6-pin cable and is installed, e.g. in the frame of a window to be monito-
red. The receiver is installed opposite, on the movable part of the window. A maximum of 10
passive glass break sensors can be connected to the 4 accessible solder connections. Only
use glass break sensors that can be connected to a monitored primary line in standard 2 or 4-
wire technology and that do not require a separate power supply. The connection values must
be checked using the technical specifications.
If more than 1 glass break sensor is connected (VdS: max. 4), the interconnected tamper
loops of the individual glass break sensors must be connected in series. In the case of direct
parallel switching (non-VdS), operation is still possible; however, if individual glass break sen-
sors are cut off (with at least one left), this is not detected.
The glass break sensor connection points are also suitable for connection of an alarm wire
loop. The transition resistance of the alarm wire loop may not exceed 1 kilohm in normal ope-
ration. When using glass break sensors in Class B VdS systems, the optional memory connec-
tion box must be used to ensure that the EKOM 11 is identified individually.
It is possible to use the device without a memory connection box in accordance with Class B
VdS; in this case, only a maximum of 4 EKOM 11 units may be used per detector zone on a
common bank of windows.
Along with the power supply cables red=(+), blue=(-), the 6-wired cable used to connect the
transmitter to the security system also comprises a 4-wire connection to link on a monitored
detector group.
The electronic switch functions on direct current and zero potential for the remaining swit-
ching and can be largely considered a relay contact. It is closed during normal operation.
The switch is opened if one of the following conditions occurs:
V1 | 2009.04
The receiver is not close enough to the transmitter.
At least one of the glass break sensors connected to the receiver is in alarm status.
At least one of the interconnected connection points for glass break sensors is sepa-
rated (tamper protection for four-wire detectors or alarm loop).
The transmitter power supply is interrupted or is insufficient.
