i) This product may be used combined with personal protective
equipment conforming to Directive 89/686/EEC and compatib-
ly with the relevant information.
j) It is essential to assess the reliability and security of the entire
safety system you are relying on (adequate resistance of the
anchors and their correct positioning to arrest a fall and prevent
pendulum effects, correct positioning of the ropes - e.g. protec-
ting sharp edges, redundancy, etc.)
OPERATION OF THE DEVICES
Before and after each use it is essential to check carefully the device
and verify its integrity.
Before each use carry out an operational test of the device by test-
loading it with your body weight while secured by other means.

To open the cam pull the safety catch down and out with your thumb
and lock it on the body of the device. Put the rope in the slot bet-
ween the cam and the frame of the device and swing back the cam
in the locking position by pressing the safety catch downwards. To
remove the rope, slide the device gently upwards along the rope
and simultaneously unlock the safety catch. Before starting to climb
verify that the device jams correctly the rope. Guard against anything
that might switch the device open or impede its correct working
(clothing, cobbles, mud, twigs...).

Slide the device upwards along the rope and pull yourself up as it
jams the rope. Always keep the device parallel to the rope direction.
For short sections of descent push the cam with your thumb in the
extreme closed position so that the cam detaches from the rope and
pull the device downwards. (Lanyards not shown for clarity.)

To avoid slippage never try to twist the device in any direction on a
taut rope or load it at an angle with the rope. If this is not possible,
clip a carabiner through the upper hole or clip your lanyard carabiner
on the rope as shown on the figure.
