General information

Who can get a tan?
Anyone who can get a tan in natural sunshine. People with sensitive skin can even tan more gently because JK
sunbeds tan the skin with virtually no UV rays which cause sunburn.
What are the recommended exposure periods?
Although the UV tanning method virtually avoids the risk of sunburn, a certain amount of consideration must be
given to the individual's skin sensitivity during the initial phase:

How many tanning sessions are necessary?
This will, of course, also depend on the tanning capability of the individual's skin - just as in natural sunshine.
Generally, a normal tanning skin will have achieved an attractive and even tan after three to five tanning
sessions of 4 to 9 minutes (depending on skin type). Initially, tanning should take place every second day.
Normally, one to two tanning sessions per week are sufficient to retain a tan once it has been achieved.
Is it necessary to use sun lotion?
No! Cosmetic sun lotions with a light-shielding factor are used to filter out aggressive rays of sunshine. As these
aggressive rays are virtually non-existent with sunbeds, sun protection lotions are unnecessary. Instead, the skin
should be thoroughly cleaned and dried before each tanning session. An ideal form of skin treatment is provided
by the Ergoline series of care products. Before tanning (pre sun) and after tanning (après sun). These contain a
special combination of selected ingredients, including aloe vera extract, jojoba oil, D-pantenol and elastin, to
cleanse the skin, help to slow down the ageing process and moisturise. This will leave the skin soft, smooth and
supple. The lotions themselves are applied by pleasant massage, quickly penetrating deep into the skin without
leaving any residue.
Heat rash
Heat rash may sometimes occur on sensitive skin, i.e. the skin turns bright red as a result of the residual infra-
red (heat) rays. This reddening is not sunburn and will not impair your health. The tanning periods should be
shortened, allowing your skin to adapt gradually.

Do not use the sunbed if the timer is defective or either of the clear or the blue filter panels is broken.

Special care should be exercised if the user is particularly sensitive to UV light and if certain medication or

cosmetics have been used.
Remove cosmetics well before sunbathing and do not use sun tan lotions or creams.

Do not use the sunbed when taking medication that increase the skin's sensitivity to UV light; in cases of
G
doubt consult your doctor.
Consult your doctor if persistent swelling, sore patches or pigmented liver spots appear on the skin.

Always use the goggles supplied. It is absolutely essential that users who have had an operation on the lens
G
of the eye wear UV impermeable goggles, in order to prevent any damage to the eyes.
Do not expose any part of the body to more than one tanning session in 48 hours. Do not „top up" a tan on
G
the same day.
Follow the recommendations on tanning times, intervals between sessions and the distance from the tubes.

Ultra-violet light from the sun or from sunbeds can cause damage to the skin or the eyes.
G
These biological effects will vary with the individual sensitivity of the skin.
Excessive exposure can lead to sunburn. Excessive, frequent exposure to ultra-violet radiation can result in
G
premature aging of the skin and the risk of skin tumours.
If left unprotected, the surface of the eye can become inflamed and, in certain cases, excessive exposure can
G
result in damage to the cornea. Frequently repeated exposure can lead to the formation of cataract.
Maximum permitted number of tanning sessions per year: 60, 43 or 33
