8 Putting out of operation

WARNING
High sound level
The sound level of 105 to 118 dB is above the allowed limit value.
• Wear suitable ear protection.
NOTICE
• The gouging torch may only be operated by qualified personnel (in
Germany see TRBS 1203).
• Before igniting the plasma arc, please observe the following:
• Switch on cutting current.
• Completely open the compressed air valve.
• Clamping length of the carbon electrode to the plasma arc approx.
150 mm.
• Please also consult the operating instructions for the welding
components, such as power source, compressed air line.
1 Open the compressed air valve.
2 Ignite the plasma arc by touching the carbon electrode briefly with the
work-piece and slide the carbon electrode back a little.
3 Keep plasma arc length very small and pass carbon electrode evenly over
the work-piece.
The compressed air jet usually follows this and air-blasts the melt.
Putting out of operation depends on the respective welding torch.
NOTICE
• Please also consult the operating instructions for the welding
components, such as power source, compressed air line.
1 Pull back carbon electrode.
2 Close the compressed air valve.
3 Switch off the power source.
