1. Testing and Approval
1 ProAir2, Hunter, Soft Shell
This body protector has been tested at SATRA Technology Centre, Kettering, UK against the manufacturer's
specifications. It conforms to the SATRA technical specification "SATRA M38: July 2012 – Requirements
for air-vests for use in horse riding, intended to give protection in the event of a fall to ground." The SATRA
technical specification involves impacting a body protector which has been inflated to the internal airbag
pressures recorded 0.3 seconds after triggering. The test apparatus and impact performance requirements
are identical to those specified for EN 13158:2009 Level 3 body protectors.
EC Type-Examination certification has been issued by SATRA Technology Centre Limited, Kettering, UK;
Notified Body No. 0321. This body protector is CE marked to denote compliance with the EU Personal
Protective Equipment Directive 89/686/EEC.
2 P2-RS Hybrid & Jockey Hybrid
This body protector has been tested at SATRA Technology centre, Kettering, UK against manufacturers
specifications. It conforms to EN:1358:2009 "Protective clothing – Protective jackets, body and
shoulder protectors for equestrian use: For horse riders and those working with horses and for horse
drivers – Requirements and test methods". The SATRA technical specification "SATRA M38: July 2012
– Requirements for air-vests for use in horse riding, intended to give protection in the event of a fall to
ground."
EC Type-Examination certification has been issued by SGS United Kingdom Limited, Rossmore Business
Park, Ellesmere Port, South Wirral, Cheshire, CH65 3EN; Notified body number 0120 (body protector). This
body protector is CE marked to denote compliance with the EU Personal Protective Equipment Directive
89/686/EEC.
EN 13158:2009 specifies three performance levels as follows:
Level 1 (Jockey Hybrid): Protectors providing a lower level of protection that is only considered appropriate
for licensed jockeys.
WARNING:
Level 1 garments are designed to meet the weight restrictions that apply to licensed
jockeys while racing. Level 1 garments are not intended for use in general horse riding as they provide
significantly less protection than a Level 2 garment, which is the minimum recommended for normal
riding.
Level 2: Protectors providing a lower than normal level of protection. That is only considered appropriate for
use in low-risk situations.
Level 3 (P2-RS Hybrid): Protectors providing a level that is considered appropriate for normal horse riding,
competitions and for working with horses.
It is important that you choose the level of protection most suitable for your riding activities.
The P2-RS hybrid body protector has been tested and approved to Level 3 when the airbag is not inflated.
Testing at SATRA Technology Centre confirms that, with the airbag fully inflated, impact performance
exceeds Level 3 (see below).
