Clamp evenly in all three holes with the chuck
key 15.
Screwdriver Tools
When using screwdriver bits, a bit holder should
always be used. Use only the screwdriver bits
that fit the screw head.
For driving screws, position the selector switch 4
to the symbol "Drilling and Driving".

Initial Operation

Observe correct mains voltage: The voltage of
the power source must agree with the voltage
specified on the nameplate of the machine.
Equipment marked with 230 V can also be con-
nected to 220 V.
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, push the On/Off switch 7
and keep it pushed.
The machine runs with variable
speed between 0 and maximum,
depending on the pressure applied
to the On/Off switch 7. Light pres-
sure results in a low rotational
speed thus allowing smooth, con-
trolled starts.
(GSB 20-2 E/GSB 20-2 RE/GSB 20-2 RET/
GSB 20-2 RCE): Do not strain the machine so
heavily that it comes to a standstill.
Lock the pushed On/Off switch 7 by pressing the
lock-on button 6.
To switch off the machine, release the On/Off
switch 7 or push and release it then.
Speed Preselection
(GSB 20-2 E/GSB 20-2 RE/
GSB 20-2 RET/GSB 20-2 RCE)
The required speed can be preselected with
thumbwheel 8 (also while running).
Constant Electronics
(GSB 20-2 RCE/GSB 20-2 RET)
Constant electronic control holds the speed con-
stant at no-load and under load, and ensures uni-
form working performance.

Gear Selection, Mechanical
Two speed ranges can be preselected with the
gear selector 10:
Speed I: Lower rpm range
Speed II: Higher rpm range
The speed can be switched during drill operation.
However, this should not be done while operating
at full load.
Reversing the Rotational Directions
(GSB 20-2 RE/GSB 20-2 RET/
GSB 20-2 RCE)
Operate the rotational direction switch 9 only
at a standstill.
Set the rotational direction switch 9 to R (right-
hand rotation) or L (left-hand rotation). (When the
On/Off switch 7 is actuated, the rotational direc-
tion switch 9 is locked.)
(GSB 20-2 RET/GSB 20 RCE): For improved
loosening of screw connections which have been
inserted completely, the speed in left-hand rota-
tion is reduced.
Drilling, Screwdriving and
Impact Drilling
The selector switch 4 engages noticeably and
can be actuated with the machine running.
Drilling and Screwdriving
(GSB 20-2): Machines without speed
preselection are not suitable for screw-
driving.
Set the selector switch 4 to the "Drilling
and Screwdriving" symbol.
Impact Drilling
Set the selector switch 4 to the "Impact
Drilling" symbol.
