Adjustment of chain tension
For safe operation of the chain saw and for
best cutting results, it is necessary that
the chain is checked regularly for proper
tension. If the chain slacks, tighten it.
Loosen the screw slightly (6). Set the chain
tension by turning the screw (7 in Fig. D
and G) clockwise until the correct tensions
is set.
After the correct tension has been set,
tighten the screw firmly.
NOTE: As a rule of thumb for proper chain tension, the chain shall have clearance when
pulled down in the middle of the bar (about 10 N or 1kg). The clearance shall be about 0.017
x cutting-length (approximately 3-4mm for the bar length of your chainsaw).
If the chain is adjusted too tight, guide bar and chain will be damaged.
Bar and chain lubrication
The bar and chain require continuous lubrication. Lack of lubrication causes
damages at the guide-bar and chain because of high friction.
Never use the chain saw with oil-tank empty! For using the correct oil for chain
lubrication you must follow the local law and directives of you country. Many
countries require the use of biodegradable oil. Ask your retailer for the correct oil.
• Lubrication is provided by the automatic
oiler system when the oil tank is kept
filled.
• For refilling oil remove the tank cap and
fill oil up to max. marking. Tighten the
cap (seeFig. H).
• During the work, check the oil level
regularly. Refill oil if necessary, no need
to wait until the tank is empty.
• Never use waste oil for chain lubrication,
as this will cause failure of the lubrication
system.
Working with the chainsaw
Note! Because of the bar-tip-guard as kickback protection only logs with diameter smaller
than the cutting length of the bar can be cut.
