A power outlet box e.g., to which you can connect all additional mains units is in this
case helpful. The latter consume electricity as well, even when the connected device
is turned off.
The same goes for other devices in stand-by mode such as many monitors (since
there is no real mains switch) printers, scanners, etc.
The stand-by electricity consumption for all PC components can easily reach 500W
in one day i.e. 1kWh! Over a period of one year the money invested in buying a pow-
er outlet box is easily paid for.
Before disconnecting all devices from the mains supply via the switch
on the power outlet box, turn off all devices separately first.
This is particularly important for ink jet printers, whose printing head
comes to a park position when the printer is turned off, to prevent the
printing head from drying out.
If the printer is turned off via a power outlet box, the printing head can-
not move to this park position any more and the jets could dry up, thus
damaging the printing head!
Remember that some printers should always be connected to the
mains supply, otherwise, when the mains voltage comes back (i.e.
when they are turned on via the power outlet box) it sets in motion an
additional cleaning process. The costs of this unnecessary ink con-
sumption are higher than those saved by turning the device off.
Turning on all devices via a single power outlet box can trip the automatic circuit
breaker of the corresponding socket of your domestic installation since the PC-ATX
power converter as well as monitors or laser printers cause high current levels when
turned on. First turn on the power outlet box switch and then all the other devices
one after the other. Leave a few seconds between each device.
• Observe the restrictions regarding the maximum currents of the different operatio-
nal voltages in point 10 in this user's manuel (also see imprint on the power con-
verter)!
An overload destroys the power converter! Furthermore, this could damage the
connected devices, e.g. motherboard, hard disks etc.
• If your motherboard is equipped with a 4-pole ATX2.0 connection for the +12V,
connect it with the corresponding PC-ATX power converter connector.
The connection provides the power converter on the motherboard (which pro-
duces current/voltage for the CPU) with a better supply and relieves the +12V line
of the ATX connector.

2. Security instructions

In the case of any damage caused due to failure to observe these
operating instructions, the guarantee will be invalid. We do not
assume liability for resulting damages!
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal
injuries caused by improper use or the failure to observe the safe-
ty instructions. The guarantee will be invalid in any such case!
The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not allowed due
to reasons of safety and approval (CE).
As power supply source, only a mains plug (e.g. 230V~/50Hz, consult point 10 in
technical data!) from the public power supply with safety conductor can be used.
Devices operated on mains voltage should be kept out of reach of children. Be par-
ticularly careful while using these devices in the presence of children.
