V. Preparing
the angle grinder for use
•
WARNING
y Perform installation, service or maintenance tasks on
the angle grinder with the battery removed from the
angle grinder to eliminate the risk of accidentally star-
ting the power tool.
INSTALLATION OF
THE ADDITIONAL (FRONT) HANDLE
•
WARNING
y The angle grinders must not be used without the front
handle installed.
Screw the additional front handle into the respective
hole in the body of the angle grinder based on the
required holding position of the angle grinder. Certain
angle grinder models are not equipped with a hole for
screwing on a handle in the top part for planar sanding/
grinding, as shown in the figure below.
EN
y For cutting, screw it into the hole on the right or left
side of the angle grinder based on whether you are
right- or left-handed.
y For planar sanding/grinding, screw it into the hole in
the top part of the angle grinder. Certain angle grinder
models do not enable a handle to be screwed into the
top part, as per the figure above.
GUARD - INSTALLATION - POSITION
(PROTECTIVE USER ZONE)
POSITION OF THE GUARD
•
WARNING
y On to the neck of the angle grinder, install the guard,
which must be positioned so that, during the use of the
angle grinder, it covers the largest part of the disc in the
direction towards the user based on the holding posi-
tion of the angle grinder and protects the user to the
maximum degree possible against deflected material
fragments, sparks and disc fragments. The protective
user zones for the given position of the angle grinder
guard are shown in fig. 2. When the grinding part of the
disc (work tool) needs to be changed, adjust the posi-
tion of the angle grinder guard to create a maximum
protective zone for the user.
INSTALLING THE GUARD PLATE
y Place the metal tab on the collar of the guard into the
ingress in the neck of the angle grinder so that it is
possible to place the tab into the groove on the neck of
the angle grinder and then turn the guard with the tab
in the groove to the required position.
Then tilt down the lever of the quick-clamping mecha-
nism and secure the guard on the neck of the angle
grinder by screwing in the nut using a suitable installa-
tion tool. Screw the nut in so that the guard is properly
secured in position and that the quick-clamping lever
can be tilted open without the nut needing to be loose-
ned for the case that the position of the guard needs to
be adjusted. If the lever of the quick-clamping mecha-
nism cannot be opened, do not loosen the nut more
than necessary. In the event that the angle grinder
model does not have a guard with a quick coupler lever,
secure it in place by tightening the nut. Prior to using
the angle grinder, ensure that the cover is properly
mounted and secured firmly on the angle grinder.

F or cutting stone, tiles, glass, roof tiles, etc. use
diamond cutting discs for dry cutting

F or planar sanding/grinding of granite, marble,
glass-concrete, concrete, etc. use the diamond
cutting disc for dry planar sanding/grinding

For planar sanding/grinding of profiles, grinding
down welds and edges, removing paint coats, caulk,
etc. use a flap disc with abrasive on a carry pad.

F or rasping soft and hard wood, laminates, plas-
tics, soft non-ferrous metals, etc. use the rotary
rasping disc intended for angle grinders.

For sanding/grinding away rust, patinas, surface
coats, etc. possible to use wire brushes with an
M14 thread. The maximum rotation speed value
marked on the brush must not be lower than the
rotation speed of the angle grinder, otherwise
bristles would fly off the brush and this could
lead to injury of the user or people in the vicinity!

INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT OF A DISC
a) Place the washer (fig. 3A or fig. 3B, position 2) on to
the spindle of the angle grinder so that it is seated in
the ingress of the spindle and turns with it. Use your
hand to check that it is correctly seated.
b) place the disc on to the washer (fig. 3A or 3B, position 3).
•
WARNING
y If the disc has a cupped curve, then the disc must be
seated on the washer with the convex face downwards,
see fig. 3A and 3B.
c) Screw the outer clamping nut on to the spindle of the
angle grinder (Fig. 3A, or 3B, position 4).
To clamp a thicker (grinding) disc with a maximum
thickness of 6 mm, screw the clamping nut with
the side of the raised ring towards the disc (Fig. 3A,
