7. IMPORTANT ASPECTS TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT
The user or caregiver should check the safety of the wheelchair at regular intervals.
1. Check the handles and non-slip rubbers and make sure they are solid and secure.
2. For correct adjustment, check the wheel locks and make sure that the large wheels are locked when
they are activated.
3. Look at all bolts, nuts and joints to check that they remain sound.
4. If the wheelchair is equipped with tyres, check that the tyre pressure is correct.
5. Check that the adjusted length of the footrest is correct.
6. If other conditions affecting safety are present, discontinue use of the wheelchair.
7. Remember to activate the wheelchair lock before transferring to or from the wheelchair.
8. Do not lean forward in the wheelchair unless both feet are on the floor. This is especially important for
users with heavy casts with raised foot rests.
