devices.

5.1 Body and Hand Position (Fig. 1)
When using the machine, keep hands at least 10 cm from path of blade. Hold workpiece firmly against the fence to prevent
movement towards the blade. Keep hands in the same position until the blade has completely stopped. Before making a cut,
do a "dry run" with the power off so you can see the path of the blade.

Arbor
The shaft on which a blade or cutting tool is mounted.
Crosscut
A cut made across the grain of the workpiece.
Freehand
A cut performed without using a fence, mitre gauge, holding device, work clamp, or other appropriate device to keep the work-
piece in place during the cut.
Gum
A sticky, sap-based residue from wood products.
Mitre Cut
A cutting operation made with the wood at any angle other than 90 degrees to the fence.
Resin
A sticky, sap-base substance that has hardened.
Revolutions Per Minute (min
The number of turns completed by a spinning object in one minute.
Saw Blade Path
The area over, under, behind, or in front of the blade. When it applies to the workpiece, this consists of the area which will be,
or has been, cut by the blade.
Set
The distance from which the tip of the saw blade tooth is bent (or set) outwards from the face of the blade.
