1 General
The Webasto Next has a local, dynamic load management "stand-alone" function. Here, one
Smart Meter per Charging Station is connected to the wall box via a router or a DHCP switch
(see chapters 2.1 and 2.2). This communication makes use of the Modbus TCP protocol via the
RJ45 port. A connection between the wall box and a router can also be made using WLAN, but
this setup is not recommended when using a Smart Meter on account of the potentially unsta-
ble connection. Alternatively, the Webasto Next can be connected to the Smart Meter directly
using an Ethernet cable (see chapter 2.3).
NOTE
– For Smart Meter settings, please refer to the user manual for the respective Smart
Meter.
– Your electrician must have a sound understanding of a network topology.
– All Smart Meters validated by Webasto have DHCP enabled when supplied.
– All settings must be applied without your electric vehicle (EV) connected.
– You must first decide which of the below setup possibilities you want to implement.
– For DHCP setup, your electrician must have access to your home network's router.
– Instructions for disabling DHCP are included in the user manual of the respective Smart
Meter.
1.1 WebUI login
The WebUI is a graphical user interface which a user can use to interact with the system via
a web browser. The WebUI can be accessed in the browser in the following ways:

With a WLAN connection to the hotspot in the wall box, the WebUI can be accessed in the
browser at the following IP address: 172.20.0.1
■
With a WLAN or LAN connection to the router, the WebUI can be accessed in the browser at
the following IP addresses:
– YYYYY (YYYYY --> an IP address that has been assigned to the wall box by the router)
– https://NEXT-WSXXXXXX (WSXXXXXX - Serial No.: see type plate)
